Relax in the gardens. Wake up to a candlelight breakfast at your leisure. Jackson School House was a one-room school constructed of cobblestone (circa 1831). The Jackson School was started by Cyrus Jackson, a relative of President Andrew Jackson. The historical cobblestone Jackson School served as a school until 1947. Judson Rice purchased the schoolhouse in 1962 and lived with his wife, Isabel until his death in 1980. Adjacent to the Jackson School House is Peppermint Cottage Bed & Breakfast. Judson Rice had built the cottage and its fireplace for his Colonial Tin Lighting business. Judson was known throughout the Finger Lakes for sitting in front of the colonial beehive fireplace and working on his early American Tin Lighting. Isabel was famous for her hooked rugs and wildflower gardens. The American Tin Lighting workshop was converted into Peppermint Cottage Bed & Breakfast. Peppermint Cottage has been welcoming guests to the Finger Lakes Region since the Fall of 1998.
