Hello Campers,
It's been a while since our last update. We wanted to wait until we had more concrete information to share, and we now have a clearer picture of where things stand.
The questions we hear most often are:
When will you reopen?
At this time, we are targeting a reopening in late July or early August. We would love to open sooner, and we will if we can, but several factors remain outside of our control.
What are we waiting on?
The biggest hurdle is the cleanup process. Everything that was damaged in the fire remains in place, and cleanup has not yet begun.
Why is cleanup so important?
Think of the reopening process as a series of dominoes. The first domino is the cleanup. Once that happens, we can move forward with the work needed to reopen. We have already prepared for the next steps and are ready to move quickly once cleanup is complete.
When will cleanup begin?
Due to a county error, the cleanup process was delayed by about a month and should have already been completed by now. The good news is that the county expects to select a cleanup contractor this coming week, with work scheduled to begin around June 15, as long as there are no other issues with the selection like last time. The estimated timeline for completion is 2–4 weeks, although the actual duration will depend on conditions once work starts.
What happens after cleanup is finished?
Once the site is cleared, we will:
- Grade the areas where the office and bathhouse were located
- Restore electrical, plumbing, and sewer connections to the office and bathhouses
- Install the new office and bathhouse facilities
While that may sound like a significant amount of work, we have been preparing for this phase for months. The new office and bathhouses have already been built and are ready for delivery as soon as the site is cleaned up and prepared. We are excited to show you the new bathhouses. They are really nice and we think you will really enjoy them.
What about the campsites and grounds?
We have already begun cleanup efforts in the campground itself. Most of the remaining work involves removing burned logs, sagebrush, and damaged trees. Sites 37 and 46 experienced the most significant impact. We know these are favorite sites for many of our campers, but we are confident they will recover and continue to be beautiful places to stay.
When will you start answering the phone and emails?
That timeline is still to be determined and largely depends on when the cleanup process begins and ends. Our best estimate right now is that we will resume answering phone calls and emails approximately 2–3 weeks before reopening. However, until cleanup is underway and we have a clearer timeline, it's difficult to provide a more specific date.
We appreciate your patience and support throughout this process. We know updates have been infrequent, but until recently there simply wasn't meaningful new information to share. Since our original goal was a June/July reopening, we wanted to provide a more realistic timeline so you can make alternate plans if needed.
Please know that we remain committed to reopening this summer, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back. Your support will mean more than ever as we begin this next chapter.
Thank you for sticking with us, and we'll continue to share updates as soon as we have them.
Sincerely,
Emily and Thomas Forte, Managers
John Neubauer and Greg Jennison, Owners
