Some things are simply too special to be tucked away. 💙🤎🛻

Papa T’s 1954 five-window Chevy is more than just a beautiful old truck. It’s a piece of family history, filled with memories and a reminder of someone who will always hold a special place in our hearts.

For those who may not know, Papa T was Tom, my stepdad, who raised me from the time I was just two years old, Megan’s dad, and lovingly known as “Papa T” to Payton and Pierce. After a courageous battle with ALS, we sadly lost him on September 15th.

This fall, we’ve given Papa T’s truck a place of honor at Barnstead Inn, surrounded by pumpkins, mums, and all the beauty of a Vermont autumn. It feels especially meaningful to have a little piece of him here with us, where our family, friends, and guests can enjoy something that meant so much to him.

A little nostalgia, a lot of love, and a tribute to a man who will forever be part of our family’s story.

It’s officially that in-between season. Warm afternoons that still feel like summer, followed by evenings that remind us fall is on the way.

Grab a sweatshirt, pick up a cozy drink at our tavern, and settle in by the fire while the sun goes down over the mountains.

Pierce and I spent the afternoon at Mad Tom Orchard picking a beautiful mix of apples—and this Cortland was too pretty not to photograph right off the tree.

Our haul barely made it home before we put it to good use… we’ve already baked our first apple crisp! 🍏🍂

Apple picking, crisp fall air, baking something warm with what we brought home, and an afternoon with Pierce. These are the Vermont days I love most. 🤎

Flannel weather means apple picking weather.

Mad Tom Orchard opened for the season and the trees are loaded. Grab a bag, do a taste test, and make some apple pie when you get home.

Come stay at Barnstead and make a weekend of it. Between the orchards, the foliage, and everything else Manchester has going on right now, fall is the season to be here.

An easy day trip only 30 minutes from Barnstead, perfect all year long and in any weather.

The Vermont Country Store has been in Weston since 1946, still run by the Orton family. They're known for being the purveyors of practical and hard-to-find items.

Penny candy that's actually a penny. Home decor, locally made products, clothes, jewelry, kitchenware, penny candy that's actually a penny. My grandmother used to send me here every year for her lipstick, and they still carry it.

Grab a creemee at Mildred's Dairy Bar next door before you head out.
