It was a little moody up on the mountain the other day, and boy, are we here for it.

Low clouds, rustling leaves, the pond rippling. This is the quieter of Mount Equinox, and it’s all right out our back door on the trails and pond cared for by the Equinox Preservation Trust. Lace up, wander out, come back for a drink by the fire.

If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to get up here, this weekend is it. Oktoberfest takes over the Marsh Tavern porch and Falcon Deck Saturday from 4 to 7: German b**r flights, bratwurst and schnitzel, live music, the whole thing. Make a night of it and stay over. Tickets at the link in bio.

One of our favorite walks in town just got a little more colorful.

There’s a new mural along the Manchester Riverwalk - with tons of local history, hidden easter eggs, and of course, the Equinox Resort itself. The mural jumps right off the wall in more ways than one. Find it on your walk through town and the town green.

One more way to experience the Equinox.

Our Oktoberfest adventure: a taste of Bavaria in Vermont.

Saturday, October 24, 4 to 7 PM. German b**r samples on the Marsh Tavern porch, a b**r flight and a little Oktoberfest history on the Falcon Deck, then a full buffet of bratwurst, schnitzel, sauerbraten and spaetzle with live German music.

A little foliage jazz to ease you into the weekend.

We sent the drone up over the resort this week and the hills are just about about at peak. Pour something tasty, turn the sound on, and take a slow lap over the Village with us.

Peak color on Mount Equinox, and a new fall menu at the Marsh Tavern to go with it. Seared scallops over Vermont cheddar grits with bacon jam. Crab cakes to share. Poached pear and fried chèvre. Short rib on parmesan gnocchi. And a grilled NY strip with cipollini onion and brandy peppercorn to finish. All of it in a tavern that has been serving families and friends since 1769. The maples around the steeple seemed to start first, and the mountains are right behind them. Peak is on its way, and we have a front-row seat.

Foliage on the mountain, a fire on the Falcon deck, and now a standing Thursday plan.

Our weekly W**e & Cheese Series runs eight Thursdays this fall, October 22 - December 17, led by F&B Director Adam Parker. Each week pairs New England cheeses from regional farms and creameries with two wines, and you go home with a parting gift.
