Not every day looks like this.

Earlier this month, we had the opportunity to decorate a 600-person wedding reception at the Bismarck Civic Center and honestly, it’s still a little surreal looking back at these photos.

75 guest tables.
A head table for 16.
An usher table for 8.
Gift tables.
Guest book displays.
Dessert areas.
Tons of greenery.
Totes on totes of vases.
Baby’s breath.
Candles.
Candles.
And somehow… even more candles.

We transformed the stage with white draping, curtain lights, black swags, uplighting, and layers of eucalyptus, ruscus, and baby’s breath to create a soft glow against the scale of the room.

Events of this size don’t happen because of one person.

As much as The Poppy Creative is often a one-woman show, this wedding was a reminder of how lucky I am to have friends, family, and fellow chaos coordinators who jump in when things get big. The people willing to haul boxes, fluff greenery, place candles, troubleshoot problems, and help bring a vision to life. You know who you are, and I couldn’t have done this without you.

To the bride and groom, thank you for trusting my little company with such a huge part of your day. Being chosen to help create the space where 600 of your favorite people gathered to celebrate is something I don’t take lightly.

And a huge thank you to the Civic Center staff. From planning and setup to teardown, your team was wonderful to work with every step of the way.

This one pushed us, stretched us, and reminded me that sometimes the projects that feel a little scary end up becoming the ones you’re most proud of.

Last night we had the chance to help decorate Brick Oven Bakery’s ‘An Evening in Paris’, transforming an alleyway into a cozy Paris-inspired gathering space for an evening of good food and community.

Did the weather cooperate? Not entirely.

Did we pivot anyway? Oui!

Highlights:
🥖 Real bread centerpieces
🌿 New custom trellises
🌱 Fake-planted planters that saved us from hauling dirt
🍕 Fire-baked sourdough pizza
🍰 A dessert trio I am still thinking about

It was one of those events that reminded me why I love this work. Not because everything goes perfectly, but because people come together and make it work anyway.

Huge thank you to my friends who helped build centerpieces, set up décor, haul supplies, take videos because (I always forget), and jump in wherever needed.

And shoutout to for bringing the booth and adding even more fun to an already great evening. 📸

From conference room to full-on Patriot party real quick 🇺🇸🏀✨

We transformed the Holiday Inn meeting space for Will’s grad party with custom photo frame centerpieces, styled memory and display tables, draped walls, blue uplighting, and a clean red, white & blue setup that still felt modern and personal. Honestly, the transformation on this one was so satisfying.

The display table was honestly one of my favorite parts. Layering in photos, jerseys, awards, memorabilia, and little pieces of Will’s story made the whole room feel personal instead of just “decorated.”

Huge thanks to Kathy from KZ PhotoBooth Rental for handling the balloon clusters because balloons remain one of the few things capable of humbling me instantly 🫠🎈
