There’s a particular kind of quiet that settles over the pool this time of year. The umbrellas are folded, the last guests of summer have that easy, sun-soaked look on their way out, and the light hits differently by 5pm now.

We’ve loved watching this pool hold so many quiet mornings and slow afternoons this season — coffee in hand before anyone else is up, a book left open on a lounge chair, the ice clinking from the perfectly refreshing cocktail as the sun starts to dip. It’s one of our favorite parts of running this place.

As we start closing things down for the season, we are already thinking ahead to next year. If a long weekend on the North Shore of Boston is calling your name for spring or summer 2027 — the kind where the only plan is no plan — now’s a good time to start dreaming about it.
