We had the chance to go to Mammaw’s Place at Kenda Drive-In and it was DELICIOUS! What better combo is there than an outdoor movie and ice cream?? 🍨
Only an 11 mile drive from the campground!

This is going to be an awesome show! We do have some availability left for RV (full hookup) and tent camping!

I was on an early morning flight to Atlanta. It was too early for me to strike up a conversation with my fellow armrest partner, but apparently not too early for him.

We chatted, usual stuff: "where ya from? Where ya headed? What do you do?"

Standard answer:
"I live in Arkansas, but I grew up outside of Richmond Virginia, and went to college in NC and met a pretty girl and got stuck down there."

I'm terrible for recycling corny jokes.

We exchanged enough "I grew up doing this n thats" that Billy Currington probably could've written another country song about it.

When the conversation died the thought hit me: "One day my kids will tell a stranger on a plane, 'I grew up going to the Buffalo River.'"

Maaaaaaan...
What a way to grow up huh?

Houston took me bullfrog catching on the pond.

Our catch-n-release fishing pond doubles at night as a snatch-n-release bullfrog experience!

My boys have no trouble spotting these big jumpers across the pond. They also have no trouble spotting some young campers that would like to participate.

Just ask em, they'll take you frog snatching free of charge lol.

Memorial Day always carries a lot of emotions. But today, more than anything, we’re choosing thankfulness.

Thankful for the men and women who gave everything so families like ours can gather around campfires, float rivers, laugh too loud with friends, and enjoy simple weekends together in beautiful places like this.

Freedom shows up in ordinary moments we sometimes take for granted:
Kids catching fireflies.
Late night conversations around the fire.
The sound of the river rolling by.
One more weekend with the people you love.

Those moments were paid for by extraordinary sacrifice.

This Memorial Day, we’re grateful. 🇺🇸

We hope your weekend is full of family, laughter, rest, and appreciation for the blessings we’ve been given.

UPDATE: Thank you so much to the many who have already been tagged for your service to our country!! We’ve got several to work through, so we will close the nominations at this time.

Sometimes life has a way of messing up the fun plans. A group had to cancel their Memorial Day weekend trip to float the Buffalo River with friends, which means we suddenly have a last-minute opening here at Grassy Road Cabins and Camping.

But instead of just reposting the availability… we wanted to do something a little different.

If you are a veteran or currently active duty military, we’d like to offer this stay completely free of charge as a small thank you from our family to yours. 🇺🇸
