Hello Everyone,
We are sending out this important security notice because we have been made aware that some of our guests who have made reservations with us are receiving phishing emails from scammers impersonating RMS, the company we use for our reservation system.
These phishing emails may claim that you need to review or update your credit card information. These emails are scams. Please do not click any links, open unexpected attachments, or enter any personal, login, or payment information.
Now what should you do if you receive one of these emails?
- Do not click any links or provide any personal, password, or credit card information.
- Report the email as phishing using your email provider's built-in reporting feature, if available. Then delete it.
- If you entered your credit card information: Immediately contact your bank or card issuer using the phone number on the back of your card or its official website. Ask them to lock or cancel the card and issue a replacement if necessary. Monitor your account for unauthorized charges.
- If you entered a password: Change it immediately through the official website or app, not through any links in the email. If you use that password on other accounts, change it there as well. Enable multifactor authentication (MFA), also known as two-step verification, wherever possible (This is one of the most secure tools available to you).
- If you downloaded an attachment or installed anything: Run a security scan on your device and seek help from your local computer shop if you notice anything unusual.
If you clicked a link but did not enter any information. Close the page and avoid interacting with it further. If you downloaded anything or notice unusual activity, take additional steps to secure your device and accounts.
We at Spook Cave will only contact you by phone or through our official email addresses:
- [email protected]
- [email protected]
If there is an issue with your reservation or payment information, we will contact you from the following and ask you to get in touch with us directly. We will not ask you to update your credit card information by clicking any links in an email. If you receive a message requesting payment updates contact us by our phone number.
Keep in mind that scammers can make emails look very convincing, including copying company logos, names, and email formatting. Even if an email looks legitimate, take a moment to verify it before taking action. When in doubt, go directly to the company's official website instead of clicking a link in the message.
Here is a link to an official guide from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) that explains what to look for when identifying phishing emails and how to protect yourself from these scams:

Taking a few minutes to learn how to recognize phishing attempts can make a big difference in protecting your personal information, financial accounts, and online identity.
We have attached an example of one of the fraudulent emails that has been reported to us. Please remember that this is just one example, and scammers may use different wording, email addresses, and designs in other attempts.
Thank you for taking the time to read this important notice. We encourage you to share this information with family members and friends who may also have reservations with us.
Stay safe, stay vigilant, and we look forward to seeing you when we reopen for the 2027 season!
Thank you,
Spook Cave & Campground
