Seibert's Fair View Farm

Seibert's Fair View Farm Fair View Farm was a boarding house in the Catskill Mountains of NY. My family (the Wilsons) went there from sometime in the 1950's until it's closing in 1974.

Owned at that time by Bertha and Joe Seibert. Hotel / Boarding house in the Catskill Mountains of New York.

Wish I knew the date on this one, but apparently early on. I don’t see the back cottage or two story house, although may not have been taken back far enough to see. Can anyone date those cars?

This one from 1911 is labeled “Upper Main Street, Oak Hill, NY. I do not really recognize this view or area, but guess the trees, sidewalks and some porches were sacrificed for room when the road was paved and widened. It is addressed to Mrs. Frances Clark, Prattsville, Greene Col, NY. The message says, “Dear friend: I cannot tell you how glad I was to receive your postal. We are getting along very nicely. Dr has a good practice and is kept pretty busy. You would hardly know him, he has gotten so stout, weighs 169 lbs. I am about the same. I am going to try to get to Prattsville this summer and will come to see you.
Sighed Mrs. Van Buren” followed by something I can’t make out. Thinking someone must remember a Doctor Van Buren from Prattsville?

This next one from 1907 is the same postcard as the previous one, but with a lot more writing! On the face is written “Does this look natural” referring to I’m guessing the hand-coloring. It is addressed to “De Witt (Ava? Ora?) Bates, Scho. Co., NY. From what I can make out, the message says “Helva(?) DeWitt, you came pretty near having a company yesterday. Mr. Baitsholts is sick and he had his brothers horse here. Nana is taking care of him (and) he told us we could go riding so we started about one o’clock and got as far as George Haskins but the horse is so lame that we got discouraged & turned around and came back. Looks like its signed “JOE.” We are having a shower now. What did you hear, days nights wet weather

The next two are the same postcard, but I love reading the messages so purchased them both. Postmarked 1906, this is of St. Paul’s P.E. Church in Oak Hill, and addressed to Mrs. Ray Traver Traner (?) in Medusa, Alb. Co., NY. It is simply a message that reads, “Mrs. Traner, don’t look for me until next week.” And signed, “Emma R. Mackey.” I know they were/are? A large family in the area. Wish I had more information!

Found a few old postcards last weekend that includes this one that I don’t think I’ve ever seen before. From what I can decipher, looks like its postmarked 1907 and is marked as “The Old Red School House.”Wondering if it is the one that still stands on School House Hill Road (that is a private residence), or if perhaps the original was taken down and a newer one erected at some point. It does look a bit different from the current day structure, but it would of likely had many changes made to it over the years. If anyone knows, please give me the info! Looks like it is signed from “Edwin Lounsburry” (sp?) and addressed to Miss Eva Strevell(?) in Westerlo.
