🐢 IF YOU SEE A TURTLE CROSSING THE ROAD, PLEASE DON’T TURN IT AROUND.

That little turtle may be moving slowly, but it knows where it’s going. ❤️

If you spot one crossing a road, here’s how you can help without putting yourself or the turtle at risk.

🚗 4 things to remember:

✅ Pull over somewhere safe and switch on your hazard lights.

✅ Help it cross in the direction it was already heading—even if that means moving away from the water.

✅ Never take a wild turtle home. Box turtles can live for decades and depend on familiar home ranges.

⚠️ See a snapping turtle? Never grab it by the tail or try to handle its head. If it’s safe, use a car mat or suitable tool to guide or slide it across. Otherwise, keep your distance and contact local wildlife rescue.

🧼 Wash your hands after handling any turtle.

One important reminder: never step into traffic to rescue an animal. Your safety comes first.

🌿 Sometimes, helping wildlife means making a small space for it to keep going.

Have you ever stopped to help a turtle cross the road? 🐢👇
