Before we make anything cute, we gotta start with strategy first because I didn’t spend two years getting a master’s in Integrated Marketing Communications to not research. 🫪

For BARE 2026, I developed the conference brand identity: logo, theme logo, social graphics, ID badges, LED screen graphics, handheld signs and more. Working the conference and trying to capture content for myself at the same time?

Chile… we did what we could. 😅

But what I can show you is that every touchpoint was intentional, cohesive and built to reflect the women who walked through those doors.

It’s been a journey allowing God to strip me of my earthly identity and mold me into who He predestined me to become in my mother’s womb. But one thing He’s never done is let me down, so of course I’m gonna follow Him. 🤭🐑

i often see a lot of people confuse the two, so here’s a quick rundown on the difference between the roles, as they have separate purposes.

think of a brand designer as the person that helps lay the foundation of your brand and a graphic designer as the person that upkeeps the maintenance. both are needed as it relates to the visual identity and presence of your brand; however, they know when and how to play their role.

been looking for a sign that you’re ready for a brand designer? don’t worry girl, i’ve got you covered! 💁🏾‍♀️

truth be told, making the time and financial investment in a brand designer (and strategist) isn’t worthwhile until you’re 100% certain that you can commit to your brand. by commit, i mean really devoting a minimum of 1-2 hours a day to strategizing + brainstorming the ways in which you want your brand to speak to its target audience.

in reality, it’s a lot of behind the scenes work that comes with getting to the nitty-gritty of a brand, which is why i’m BIG on communicating that beforehand to potential clients.

at the avenue, my clients typically spend a minimum of two months working with me and they’ll be the first to tell you that we both put in werkkkkk! 💪🏾

what’s a branding package without some good ole instagram story and brand templates?! 🤪

social media kits play a legit role in the overall experience of your brand. the way a brand engages with its audience matters, which is the reason why a lot of us are vested in , and . 🙃

essentially, when a brand is sure of its audience and has the strategy and aesthetics to effectively communicate, it sets up a solid foundation to build and drive engagement.

shoutout to for their radically bold and bad-ass activism! it was such a pleasure strategizing and creating the visual aesthetics for a socially conscious brand. 🤩

cue the confetti, sis! it’s kelly ave’s one year businessversary! 🎊🤩

i can't believe that a year ago i launched my rebrand from graphiX designs to kelly avenue. at the time, i couldn't have fathomed what kelly ave would grow to become, but i am so blessed to be able to live out my passion!

so, here’s the backstory:

before my rebrand, i felt lost in my purpose and unfulfilled with my design biz.

my og design business was birthed during my senior year of college. after graduation, i continued designing; however, that first year of grad school had ya girl stressed. after a brief two month hiatus, i resumed designing for clients but still did not feel connected to graphiX.

in november of 2020, i had an internal revelation and sought to rebrand my biz to match my personality and attract my ideal clients. and so, the birth of kelly avenue began!

to all who have supported me on this journey, thank you! no amount of words can ever express my gratitude and appreciation for my clients, family, friends, creative community and supporters. this is only the beginning for kelly avenue! 🥂✨

it’s Black history month and what better way to do it for the culture than highlight womxn of the movement?! 🙆🏾‍♀️

now, if y’all didn’t know…i’m a mississippi girl, so i’m gonna highlight specifically mississippi womxn who were for the cause.

pictured is none other than the incomparable fannie lou hamer. i deem her as one of the mother’s of the movement because baby she made s**t happen!

born october 6, 1917 in montgomery county, mississippi, fannie lou was instrumental in voting and womxn’s rights. she was also the co-founder of the freedom democratic party, which she represented at the 1964 democratic national convention.

hamer also assisted in organizing for freedom summer, sncc (the student nonviolent coordinating committee) and was the co-founder of the national womxn’s political caucus.

ever heard of the phrase “i’m sick and tired of being sick and tired?” 👀 these were the words spoken by fannie lou in reference to the demeaning discrimination of Blacks across the country.

fannie lou was gonna tell it how it was and not sugar coat a thannnng. this is one of the reasons why i hold her close to my heart. 🤍🤞🏾
