Expect minor delays on Highway 128 during this improvement project that will make this stretch of road safer for all cyclists, especially those coming off the Whole Enchilada and Porcupine Rim Trails. Please respect signs and workers. This project improves the safety of Moab trail systems.

Construction has begun on a 0.7-mile trail connection along state Route 128 in Moab.

While small, it will complete a persistent gap in the Colorado River Trail, connecting popular destinations, like Grandstaff Canyon, the Porcupine Rim Trail and a portion of the region's Whole Enchilada route, all while keeping bikers and hikers off the road.

It's a piece of a project more than two decades in the making.

Last week Sand Flats staff picked up three 5 gallon buckets of toilet paper and human waste above the popular Hell's Gate area on the Hell's Revenge 4x4 trail. Please remember to use trailhead toilet facilities before going in the backcountry. It is a good idea to keep an approved waste kit in your vehicle. We would rather see spring cactus flowers than toilet paper and I am sure you would as well!

Please note- Grand County Title 17 Use of Public Lands Ordinance
17.04.010 Human Waste. No person shall dump or otherwise deposit human waste, ... on Public Lands ... except in a Sewage Facility. All persons are required to carry out solid human body waste and must possess and utilize a Sewage Facility that allows for the disposal of solid human waste through authorized refuse container or sewage systems.
