Scroll container home pages long enough and you start to notice something: most of them aren't real.

Ten shipping containers stacked at impossible angles. Cantilevered boxes hanging over cliffs. Glass walls where structural steel should be. AI made them, and nobody could ever build them — or sleep safely in them if they did.

Here's a real one.

The Classic is a single 10x20 container. That's it. One box, finished well. Inside: a real bed, an electric fireplace, a little kitchenette, and a window that opens onto green. Outside: your own deck, your own fire pit, your own hot tub under a Colorado sky that goes deep blue right before dark.

No stack. No stunt. Just a very good small space on private property in Monument, Colorado.

The renders get the likes. This one gets you a good night's sleep.

The hats came in.

They're not for sale. They're for our cleaning crew — the people who show up between stays and get a tent from "someone just left" to "nobody's ever been here." When you're staying on private property, you should be able to look up and know exactly who's taking care of your space.

We're also holding some back for guests. Not everyone. But now and then someone books a stay that turns into a story — a proposal, a fortieth anniversary, a family that drove eleven hours to be together for two nights — and it's nice to have something they can take home besides photos.

Small thing. But small touches are most of what we do around here.

Monument, Colorado. Private-property glamping — your own deck, your own hot tub, your own fire pit. Just show up.

Meet Mark — one of our favorite guests, all the way from South Carolina.

He spent the week here visiting his son, who's stationed nearby in the military. In between visits he toured the areaand squeezed in some fishing time at Monument Lake, just upstream from us.

Look what he pulled out of the water.

We'll let you guess: species, length, weight — drop your guess in the comments. Mark's not saying.

Moral of the story: pack your fishing pole when you book with us. You never know what's waiting upstream.

My grandchildren picked out a book at story time this week: Grandma Gloria Goes Glamping. I sat there reading it to him, and about halfway through I realized — this is a real, printed, illustrated children's book. Glamping is a big enough part of life now that somebody wrote a bedtime story about it.

Made me think about all the grandparents who've booked a night at Monument Glamping just to have somewhere easy to bring the grandkids — no tent to pitch, no sleeping bags to dig out of the garage, just a real bed, a fire pit, and a story before bed.

If Grandma Gloria can figure it out, so can you. Come make your own version of this story.

14,115 feet, blue sky, patches of snow still hanging on — that's the view from the top of Pikes Peak this week.

This is one of the best parts of staying with us: Pikes Peak is a straight shot from the property, and it's one of only two fourteeners in Colorado you can actually drive to the summit. No technical climb, no all-day trek — just the highway, the toll booth ($18, worth every penny), and one of the best views in the state.

Stay at Monument Glamping, spend a morning at 14,000 feet, and be back at your hot tub by afternoon. That's the kind of day trip this location makes possible.

Can you spot the deer?

Look closely at the tall grass near the bend in the creek. There are two of them standing right there, soaking up the morning sun.

This is Monument Creek running straight through our property at Monument Glamping — six acres just outside town. Deer travel through here all day long. You'll be sipping coffee on your deck, look up, and find a pair grazing fifty feet away like they own the place. (They kind of do.)

This is the part of a stay you can't schedule. No campground, no crowd, no fences between you and the morning. Just your own quiet corner of Colorado and whatever wanders through it.

Found them yet? Look just left of center, down by the water.

Come see what walks past your tent. Check availability and book direct at MonumentGlamping.com.

We didn't ask for this. A glamper spent part of their stay sitting on their deck, painting rocks — and before they left, they tucked this into the grass outside their venue.

A little Colorado. A little "Monument Glamping." And spelled out in the letters: Thank You.

That's the part of private-property glamping we love most. Nobody's rushing between activities or checking a list of things to do. You've got your own space, your own deck, your own quiet — and sometimes that quiet turns into an afternoon of painting rocks just because you can.

We didn't expect a gift. We got one anyway.

One of our add-ons at Monument Glamping is a surprise celebration setup — balloons, rose petals, candles, candy, a letter board — for guests arriving on a birthday, anniversary, or just a "we earned this" weekend.

The person who actually stages them is Ariel, a local high schooler who cleans for us. And here's what I love: she's proud of this work. Proud enough that she takes the photos herself when she's done. Every picture in this post is hers.

Look at what she puts together. A birthday spread in our Honeycomb container home — letter board, balloons, soft candlelight. A romantic welcome in King's Quarters, our creekside safari tent — red balloons, a trail of Hershey's Kisses, rose petals across the bed, a wrapped bottle waiting.

That's the kind of care that makes a stay land differently. It's not a vending machine and a key code out here. It's real people putting real thought into your arrival.

Celebrating something? Add the setup when you book and let Ariel do her thing. MonumentGlamping.com.
