Starting November 2, 2026, a parkwide asphalt rehabilitation project will begin. This project encompasses asphalt repairs on Marina Road, Pat’s Point Road, and sections of Brandenburg Loop. Work will continue through the end of 2026, with additional work expected in June 2027 when temperatures allow.

Keyhole State Park staff ask visitors to use caution when entering the park through either the Marina Road or Coulter Bay entrances and to follow any temporary traffic direction changes.

Electric sites at the Coulter Bay campground will remain closed until Dec. 1, 2026, to accommodate heavy equipment, trucks, and construction materials.

⚠️ We are under a Harmful Cyanobacterial Bloom (HCB) advisory for Keyhole Reservoir effective October 9, 2026. This advisory will be in effect until further notice.

The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, the Wyoming Department of Health, and the State of Wyoming Livestock Board recommend that you:

🚫 Do not swim in or come into contact with green water, floating scums, or clumps.
🚫 Do not ingest water from a bloom; boiling, filters, and other treatments will not make the water safe.
🎣 Rinse fish with clean water and eat only the fillet portion.
💧 Avoid water spray from a bloom.
🐾 Do not allow pets or livestock to drink water near a bloom, eat bloom material, or lick fur after contact.

If contact occurs: rinse with clean water immediately and contact a doctor or veterinarian if symptoms develop.

🎉 Big news for Keyhole State Park!

Wyoming State Parks has been awarded a $3 million grant from the Helmsley Charitable Trust to support visitor improvements at Keyhole State Park, including a new visitor center planned for the Coulter Bay area.

The new facility will create a welcoming hub for visitors to learn about the park, explore recreation opportunities, and discover the natural and cultural history of Keyhole and northeast Wyoming. It will also provide space for community gatherings and support year-round park operations.

Earlier this year, we heard from park visitors and community members through a series of public meetings. That input is helping shape the project as it moves into the design phase, with construction currently scheduled for completion in fall 2028.

We’re grateful to the Helmsley Charitable Trust for its continued partnership and investment in Wyoming’s state parks and historic sites.

Last weekend, Keyhole had the privilege of hosting a campout for a group of veterans and their families based out of Upton, Wyoming.

Keyhole staff have been working with Upton Veterans Talking to Veterans coach, Tom Johnson, for the past year to develop programming for veterans at Keyhole.

Despite the less than ideal weather, the weekend was a success thanks to the dedicated efforts of Tom, his wife Helen, our veterans, and the generous donors from Upton who supplied the food for the weekend.

A special thank you to Casper College for hosting their dark sky program last Saturday and being willing to coordinate the program so our veterans could attend!
