Lost Creek Ranch

Lost Creek Ranch Lost Creek Ranch & Spa is a historic all-inclusive guest ranch located in Jackson Hole, WY and GTNP.

Lost Creek Ranch was originally homesteaded in the late 1800s. In 1929, as the Rockefeller Family was acquiring thousands of acres in Jackson Hole to convert into the Grand Teton National Park, the ranch's owner, Albert Schwabacher, retained private ownership. The Halpin Family purchased the ranch in 1968 in order to continue Albert's legacy of involving new people in the region's traditional activities. Three generations of Halpins remain actively involved in its daily operations.

This is what dance night is all about! The sun drops behind the Tetons and somewhere between the first and last song the steps stop mattering. It's just about being right here in this moment, together.

On Friday evening the cookout grill fires up one last time and we finish the week with a farewell barbecue at the chuckwagon.

Elbow-deep cast irons filled to the brim, and traditional blue enamel plates barely big enough for a first helping. You'll find bison ribs, bbq shrimp, charred corn, grilled asparagus and much more down the chuck line.

It's the meal that closes out every guest week, served outside the way it's been done here for a hundred years. No dining room, no fancy place settings. Just good food and a wholesome evening around the campfire!

Bald eagles nest in the cottonwood trees along the Snake River, the same stretch of water our guests float every week. As apex predators in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, their presence is one of the clearest signs this valley is healthy. They regulate prey populations, keep smaller predator species in balance, and support the broader food chain from the top down.

A healthy eagle population means healthy fish runs, clean water, and intact habitat. When you see one hunting from a perch above the Snake, you're looking at proof that this ecosystem is working the way it's supposed to. Some days they pass directly over the float boat. You never schedule it. The valley just reminds you what lives here when you get out and explore all that it has to offer!

Seven days until we open our doors again!

The cabins are ready. The facilities are set. This week, our staff comes together for cross-departmental training, sharpening service standards and building the kind of camaraderie between coworkers that guests feel the moment they arrive.

At Lost Creek, the heart of the ranch is the people who work it and the soul is the folks who come from all walks of life to experience it.

It is often said that the Teton Valley is home to one of the best-kept fisheries in the world. Between the native Fine-Spotted Cutthroat, the sheer majesty of the Snake River, and the countless cold water tributaries that feed it, the quality of water here is matched only by the dedication to its preservation.

We honor that reputation through our small-group, guided trips. Whether you choose a full or half-day, a walk-and-wade or a float, our focus remains on conservation-minded angling that gets our guests connected to the landscape long before the first bite.

If you are new to fly fishing, there is no better place or way to learn.

You know you've done something right when guests are ready to rebook before they even depart and in the case of Michele & Chris, we are thrilled to have been their summer tradition for three years now and counting.

Hearing about how the experience continues to move our returning guests after each visit is a real privilege and they have managed to capture it perfectly in this review from their stay last September.

We are looking forward to having them back home again for their 4th year in a row.

Here's to you, Michele & Chris,

In 1935, the Schwabacher Family took this photo on top of the Bench Trail at Lost Creek and almost 100 years later, we are still taking guests to the same spot.

This photo captures a moment which has been relived by generations of families at Lost Creek and the Schwabachers knew then, what we still know now: some vistas will simply never need changing.
