You did it!

Thanks to everyone who came out, donated, bought food and raffle tickets, and helped make our Back to School Supply Drive such a success, we raised enough to give 12 Camp Sunflower campers $100 each to help with back-to-school expenses!

That means 12 young people will get to decide what they need most to start the school year -- whether that’s a backpack and notebooks, new shoes, clothes that help them feel like themselves, or something else entirely. 🚌

A huge thank you to Ashley Erwin, who dreamed up this fundraiser and chose to make her birthday celebration an opportunity to support our incredible campers! Thank you to MK Hawk from the Hawk's Nest for helping organize and host the event, and to Eric Nachtigal for helping bring it all together and cooking the incredible food that kept everyone fed!

Also a huge shout-out to the Camp Sunflower staff and board members that helped facilitate games and sell raffle tickets! Thank you Micala Gi-g, May, Avery Ash, Kelsy Gossett Dennis, and Tommy Nguyen!

And, of course, thank you to every person who showed up, celebrated, and gave generously.

We believe deeply in a community that shows up for one another --and this is what that looks like.

Twelve campers. $1,200. And a whole lot of Camp Sunflower love heading into a new school year. 🌻 Campers and families - look out for an email with details about how you can get some of these funds!

"These kids are incredible ambassadors of what a better world can look like."

We're incredibly grateful to KSN for highlighting Camp Sunflower and sharing the stories of the young people, families, and staff who make this community so special.

Community has the power to change lives. Every summer, campers arrive from across Kansas and beyond to laugh, explore, make lifelong friendships, and discover what becomes possible when they spend a week surrounded by people who truly understand them.

Thank you to KSN for helping tell our story - and thank you to every camper, family, volunteer, donor, and supporter who has helped make Camp Sunflower what it is today. 🌻

Check out the story below, and if it resonates with you, we'd love for you to share it.

Camp Sunflower provides a supportive community and transformative experiences for LGBTQ+ youth through its summer camp in Kansas.

For just a few more days, your gift to Camp Sunflower can have twice the impact. 🌻💛

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Bretz Injury Law, every donation made through this special campaign will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $5,000. That means a $25 gift becomes $50. Every dollar goes twice as far in creating joyful camp experiences, year-round community, and life-changing opportunities for q***r youth and their families.

If Camp Sunflower has ever made you smile, given someone you love a place to belong, or simply represents the kind of world you want to help build, this is one of the best times all year to give!

Donate before June 30 and double your impact:

Hey camp fam! Looking for a way to get rid of some old stuff and create some q***r joy?

Camp Sunflower 2026: Q***rious Cryptids starts in just over a week, and we have an ask of our community - especially if you're near Wichita!

Q***r youth are masters of transformation - of themselves, of their communities, and of ... stuffed animals! This year, one of our activities will invite campers to transform some stuffed animals into new q***riously cryptid creations! And, we need some raw materials to work with!

If you have stuffed animals (or similar items like dolls that have at least some soft/fabric parts) that you don't want anymore - we want them! We are looking for any sizes, shapes, and conditions including well-loved!

You won't get them back, but we promise to share photos of the delightful finished products. Message here or at [email protected] if you have some to donate. We can arrange for pick-up or drop-off near Wichita. Thank you!
