Horse Spotlight Series 🐴✨

This week, we’re featuring two of our barn mascots — because they come as a package deal. 💛

Meet China and Waylon.

China is a 25‑year‑old mini horse who has grown up right here on the Ranch. Waylon is her mini donkey boyfriend, and he follows her everywhere. Where China goes, Waylon goes. That’s just how it works. 🐴🫏

You’ll find these two hanging out in their stall in the barn, or roaming the stables on a very important mission: hunting down the best snacks on the property. They can spot a carrot from a mile away. 🥕👀

Come say hi — and bring a carrot if you’ve got one. They’ll remember you.

Horse Spotlight Series 🐴✨

Meet Stevie – one of the new girls on the block. 🌾

We don’t know much about her history, but we believe she’s a teenage Thoroughbred or Appendix — and she seems to have been a kid’s lesson horse in her past. It shows.

Stevie is careful, kind, and gentle. She’s the low man on the totem pole out in the pasture, but she doesn’t let it bother her. She has a cloudy eye, and it doesn’t slow her down one bit — she gets around the arena and the trail just fine. 💛

We’re big fans of this sweet girl. Bring her a carrot next time you’re at the barn. 🥕

New at R Ranch: Hunting Access for Owners 🦌

We’ve launched a one-year hunting trial — giving owners access through Ranch property to hunt approximately 700 acres of bordering BLM land.

The details:
• Owners only — not open to the public
• Access is through Ranch property, but hunting is on the BLM land only
• The Ranch itself remains a no-hunt zone
• Trial runs through July 2027 — this period is to see how the program works
• Game in the area may include: deer, quail, turkey, dove, and occasional wild pig
This is a strong new benefit for owners who hunt, and it adds real value for anyone considering ownership.

Owners — help us spread the word. If you have friends or family who hunt, share this with them. It’s a great deal, and we’d love to see this trial get used.

🎃 R Halloween Bash — October 24th 🎃

A full day of fall fun, candy, costumes, and haunting thrills!

🖌️ 10am — Horse Painting
🎨 11am — Pumpkin Carving
🍬 4pm — Golf Cart Cruise through the Trail of Treats
🎪 5pm — Halloween Carnival & Trunk-or-Treat
👻 After dark — Haunted House
🎶 All evening — Music & dancing

Costume contest, carnival games, photo booth, popcorn, and a candy corn guessing jar at the store — winner announced at the dance!

We need your help:
🍭 Candy donations — drop off at the store
🙋 Volunteers to chaperone carnival games at 5pm — sign up with Sami or Allison
🏕️ Sign your campsite or cabin up for the Trunk-or-Treat trail!

Mark your calendars for October 24th. Volunteers needed and greatly appreciated — let’s make it a night your family will remember! 🎃

Meet Shrimp – the busy body with a whole lot of personality. 🦐

He’s a 9‑year‑old half Arabian, half Saddlebred — just like his buddy Banjo. Shrimp made his way to us from Utah earlier this summer.

Before Ranch life, he was a saddleseat show horse, and it took him some time to adjust. But we gave him plenty of time and TLC, and he’s ready to get back on the trail. 🙌

You never have to wonder what Shrimp’s thinking — only whether he’s thinking at all. 😂

Welcome back to the trail, buddy. ❤️
