People often ask us about the ghosts of the Naples Hotel. With Halloween approaching, we thought we’d share what it’s actually like to work in a place with a few unexplained stories. 👻
For most of us, those moments have been more curious than frightening. A voice when no one else is there. A glimpse out of the corner of an eye. Something falling or moving without an obvious explanation. Most of our employees have at least one story and many describe a similar feeling: the awareness that perhaps someone else is around, followed by getting right back to work.
Over the years, the hotel has had chapters when people actively tried to encourage paranormal activity. These days, our approach is a little quieter. Our current owners and staff prefer to give any spirits their space, treat them with respect and let them rest without asking anything of them. The experiences people describe today tend to be subtler than some of the dramatic stories from years past, but there are still moments that make us pause….
Yesterday was one of them.
Building owner Tom Salviski was in the basement showing our event space to a family when a glass slipped from the rack behind him and fell to the floor. When we checked the security footage, we noticed something curious: the normally clear video briefly became grainy just before the glass fell.
A coincidence? A camera glitch? Something we can’t explain? We’ll let you decide when we share the video.
A building that has welcomed people since 1895 holds generations of stories. Some of us feel that a little of that history lingers in ways we don’t quite understand. And even those who have experienced something unexpected are often surprised by how ordinary the moment feels. Instead of terror, it’s simply one curious little interruption in an otherwise normal day of hospitality.
We’re still here setting tables, shaking cocktails, welcoming overnight guests and making people feel at home. If we happen to share the building with a few guests from another era, we hope they feel at home, too. ❤️
