Such damage and such efforts to deal with so many downed trees.

Some storms leave a mark long after the winds settle.

The December 2025 windstorm hit hard for our staff, neighbors, and guests who hold Custer State Park close to their hearts. Seeing familiar places changed overnight was difficult. Watching people come together to care for them has meant everything.

Our crews have put an incredible amount of work into cleanup and recovery, but there’s still more ahead. We’re grateful to share that Custer State Park has been selected for a 2026 Hearts of STIHL grant, helping us continue restoring trails and caring for the places you come here to explore.
