Hey neighbor 👋 Dolly Sods Wilderness spans over 17,000 acres to protect the Red Creek drainage and important bog and heath eco-types. And this special place borders Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge!
A friendly reminder to those looking to access the Dolly Sods Wilderness from Forest Road 80 that we have a day-use lot and an overnight lot.
☀️ Our day-use lot is located about 1/4 of a mile from the end of FR 80 and is only authorized for day-use parking.
🌖 Our overnight lot is about 1/2 of a mile from the end of FR 80 and requires a permit from the refuge. Permits are given on a first come, first served basis and we ask that requests are sent to us at least four days in advance of your arrival. Please note that camping is not authorized on Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge, even in a parked vehicle.
