We want to take a minute to thank Lila and Randy for the foundation they built here at Winding River. We truly appreciate the work that’s been done over the years and the opportunity to keep things moving forward.
Water is officially on, and the plumbing system has been repaired. As we got everything up and running, we did run into some winter-related damage, along with a few deeper repairs that will take a little more time to fully work through.
We’re going to keep chipping away at those throughout the season and continue making improvements as we go.
As part of startup, we flushed each site. When you arrive, please let your spigot run for at least 2 minutes and give your camper a good flush inside as well.
We really appreciate your patience and support while we work through everything. We’re committed to making this a better experience for everyone this season.

Introducing the new owners of Winding River Campground — Todd and Onya!

Wisconsin natives, Todd and Onya, are looking forward to becoming part of the Winding River community and getting to know everyone who calls the campground their seasonal home. You’ll also see their children, Malaki and Mya, around the property helping throughout the season as part of this family adventure.

Todd and Onya are excited for this next chapter and are looking forward to meeting everyone and continuing the welcoming spirit that makes Winding River special.

I just found out that the 1st Saturday in August is National Sunflower Day! At our past home locations, we grew several varieties of sunflowers. Randy was so invested in it that he would even thin out plants, if I overseeded, by transplanting the little plants in another area of the yard bare of sunflowers. The joy of sunflowers isn't just the variety of flowers or trying to grow the tallest biggest flower, it is also watching the birds, primarily yellow finches eat the seeds. The finches hang upside to get to the seeds. If you have not grown sunflowers yet, think about starting. It is a joy beyond words to have these lovely flowers along a fence line so sunny and bright. Make sure to plant them with a good window view to see what birds and bees you get through the summer!
