Children exercise both fine and gross motor skills as they use small muscles in their hands (fine motor) and the large muscles in their arms and legs (gross motor) while playing with chalk. Children are invited to draw with chalk and also move over, in, off, and around their drawings. This kind of play is part of our Health and Wellness curriculum element.

Our Kindergarten Prep 8 classroom continued to build their community project by exploring how vehicles travel and discussing road safety. The children constructed their own road networks using cardboard and paper strips to create lanes, turns, and ramps.

This hands-on activity fostered essential critical thinking and spatial awareness skills as they engineered their own traffic systems, helping them connect scientific inquiry to real-world infrastructure.

What in the world is happening in our infant program?

Using sponges and small amounts of water, infants see water disappear as it soaks into the sponge and use their fine motor muscles to squeeze it out again. Both water and sponges offer unique sensory experiences for children, but when combined, they create a fascinating science experiment.
