Innkeeper Annie here! I started experimenting with watercolors last fall and absolutely fell in love with it. When the annual Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta t-shirt contest rolled around this spring, I wanted to pay homage not only to this incredible event, but to the rainbow of people (and pumpkins) that make Pumpkinfest possible. So I was THRILLED when organizers asked me if they could use my art for the festival's first-ever (!!!!) bumper sticker. Many visitors don't realize what it takes to pull this event off: thousands of volunteer hours, donated services and materials, committees and subcommittees that meet all year long, and a shoestring budget. And of course, a shared understanding by literally everyone who lives here that for this one weekend in October, there's no driving through town in a hurry 😂 So yes, Pumpkinfest is for everyone. And if you'd like to join us in upholding some seriously absurd traditions (like carving boats out of pumpkins and racing them in front of thousands of people), all you have to do is show up! While you're here, buy a bumper sticker or a t-shirt. Make a donation if you can. Enjoy local seafood, support local businesses, and come be a part of the incredible magic and whimsy that is the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta 🎃

Whether we were whipping up pancakes in the cockpit of a 30-foot pulling boat with the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School or catching fresh bluefin tuna in the Florida Keys, we always said: "Everything tastes better on a boat." Turns out, everything tastes better at the Butler, too! We make our breakfasts with love and local ingredients, and we think our guests can taste the difference. Thanks to recent guest Brendan for the kind words... Alicia especially liked the "Michelin quality" part!!

We’re on a mission to make sauna more accessible and affordable - and we really want to share this cedar wood-fired beauty and clawfoot tub cold plunge with our community 🔥💕 This club is for everyone which means no fees, no waitlists, and no secret handshakes. This weekend we're welcoming guests from near and far, several of whom are attending an incredible workshop at the incredible Blenheim Park Maine 🌸🍒 📸 That means our four guest rooms are completely full - and so is the Cottage! This beautiful two-bedroom retreat just steps from our main B&B building is now fully BOOKED for the month of July, but we've still got availability in June and August. Hoping for a longer visit? Stays of 6+ nights in the Cottage unlock our weekly rate of 10% off!

Whew! We had a full house for Memorial Day weekend!! We celebrated by visiting friends and neighbors in Waldoboro and Wiscasset to wish them a happy start to the busy season here in the midcoast. We feel so fortunate to be surrounded by talented chefs, creative makers, thoughtful curators and community events... can't wait to share these special places and experiences with our guests all year round!

What a fun night! Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by, brought cookies and flowers, picked up their Sauna Club cards, and celebrated the start of summer at the Tipsy Butler🍾💐🥳 CONGRATULATIONS to Becca M. who won our two-night stay giveaway!! We can't wait to have you.

We felt extra proud to welcome some of the incredible people who helped us get here: our business advisor Sarah Guerette at Coastal Enterprises Inc., our commercial banking partner Jessica Scanman at Norway Savings Bank, our insurance advisor Nick Pucello at Allen Insurance and Financial, and our accountant Cheryl Crummett at Sunny Side Accounting! And several friends from the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce of course!

We got our alcohol license!!! And we've kicked off our midcoast tasting tour! Our long-term goal is to build up a drink menu that we're proud to share with guests, full of options that showcase the very best of what coastal Maine has to offer. These are drinks that feel special and stay affordable. We're not rushing this - so let us know what we should try next for this summer!

To help us celebrate, JOIN US at our open house this Wednesday night!! We'll be pouring sips of our ✨new✨ wines for folks to try out:

🍾 Morphos, made by our neighbors Brian and Allie up the road in Warren at Oyster River Winegrowers. We couldn't choose between the white pet nat and the rosé... so we stocked both. These wines are wild fermented, and they both taste like summer. Thank you Brian for taking the time to give us a tour - we'll be back when your tasting room opens up 🙌
🫐 BLUET Maine Wild Blueberry Sparkling Wine, a low-ABV stunner that's full of antioxidants and made with wild blueberries from Maine family farms. Almost like a dry cider, and made by childhood friends Michael and Eric who crafted their first batch in a barn in nearby Jefferson. We've been pairing this with oysters and it's heaven.

When our friends Steve and Leslie texted us this past weekend to see if we had a room available for a spontaneous getaway, it was a full-circle moment. Annie officiated their wedding last year in East Boothbay, and none of us knew that just one year later we'd be hosting them at our very own B&B! They had dinner at the Newcastle Publick House, made new friends over breakfast, then headed out to go birding at Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust's Salt Bay Farm. Happy anniversary you lovebirds, and please come back soon 💕
