Hello friends,

We're Boris and Susan, and about a year ago we became the new owners of this special property.

We fell in love with the rolling hills, the river, the mountain views, and the peaceful beauty that makes southern Vermont such a remarkable place. We also saw an opportunity to give the property a fresh new chapter while preserving everything that made it special.

After a year of renovations, we're excited to introduce its new identity - the property is now called Otherland Hotel (www.stayotherland.com).

Guest Rooms: Every guest room has been fully renovated with Scandinavian-inspired design, large picture windows overlooking the meadow and surrounding hills, brand-new stylish bathrooms, and thoughtfully upgraded amenities throughout.

Common Lounges: The main two common lounges has been transformed, with inviting gathering spaces centered around a large fireplace designed for slow mornings, afternoon conversations, and cozy evenings.

Saunas: Outside, you'll find a new addition - two private unique guest saunas: a Mirror Sauna and an A-Frame Sauna. They're beautiful and incredibly fun to use - especially on the colder evenings. They are available exclusively for our guests.

Activity Lawn: You'll also find a new activity lawn with lawn games, a mountain-view fire pit, and quiet spots tucked along the riverbank.

A Farewell from The Lodge

As Oliver and I step into our final weekend at The Lodge, we find ourselves overwhelmed with gratitude, nostalgia, and no small amount of emotions. For the past 6 and a half years, this place has been more than just a hotel—it has been our home, a gathering space, and a backdrop for countless memories shared with each of you.

Your support, your stories, your laughter, and the friendships we've built have meant the world to us. Watching you all come together under our roof has been the most rewarding experience, and we are deeply honored to have been a part of your stories and journeys.

While change is never easy, we carry with us these cherished moments and bonds that will remain long after our doors close and The Lodge begins its next chapter. As we prepare for the sale of The Lodge, and hand the reigns over to the new owners, we want to say thank you - for your patronage, for your kindness, and for making The Lodge a warm & welcoming place to explore Southern Vermont.

While our chapter comes to a close, The Lodge’s story continues! We wholeheartedly hope you’ll keep visiting and supporting the new owners as they bring fresh energy and exciting updates to this beloved space. Their vision is full of promise, and we can’t wait to see how they take The Lodge to new heights.

~Important Update~

Dear Beloved Guests, David and I want to announce that we are under contract in selling the Lodge. We have been blessed by you, our faithful guests for the past 6 years. We started from scratch, creating a brand and offering the best guest experience possible. It was all done with sincere love, care, and hospitality. The new owners are lovely people and have promised to continue the Lodge’s legacy and continue to offer a great guest experience. Their plans and goals are to take the Lodge to the next level, and we are excited for the Lodge’s future! We ask that you continue to support the Lodge and experience their hospitality.

The transition of ownership will take place on June 20th, 2025. We are currently not taking reservations, they will be updating the website and using their own reservation system. Please check with them after June 20th to create a new reservation. There may be a short time of closure as they plan to do renovations. We want you to know that you have a special place in our hearts and will have fond memories for this period in our lives. We are sure that you are wondering about our next chapter. David and I will be moving to Florida to be closer to my aging parents and start a new chapter in our lives there. In life there are many seasons and chapters, and this is just a new chapter for us and for The Lodge. Since 1969 there have been many seasons and chapters of the Lodge and this is just another chapter. We are excited for the new owners, we are excited for the future of the Lodge and we are excited for you to experience the amenities and changes that the new owners will be offering. Oliver and I ate at the newly reopened and renovated restaurant 1832 Tavern at the Four Columns Inn last week. Oliver had Steak Frites and I had the baked stuffed shrimp. We enjoyed the great hospitality and delicious meal in the beautiful dining room. They have a well balanced menu with options for everyone as well as a kids menu. We sat in the restaurant side, they also have a tavern. We now have several dining options right in town, the Court Street Tavern at the Newfane Inn, 1832 Tavern and Fat Crow all minutes from The Lodge! ~David
