This Flag Day feels especially meaningful after the week we had at Hotel Downstreet.

Last week, we had the honor of welcoming members of the Vermont National Guard before they deployed from North Adams. What started as a simple hotel stay became something much bigger — a send-off filled with community, gratitude, and a whole lot of heart.

From our team, local first responders, veterans, families, and neighbors who came out to show their support, it was a reminder of what the flag represents: service, sacrifice, unity, and the people who stand behind it.

Today, we’re thinking of those Guard members and their families, and we’re grateful to have been even a small part of their journey.

When two worlds collide… in the best way. 💜💛

This morning, our Front Office Manager, Bill, met two wonderful guests visiting for Williams College Alumni Weekend. What started as a simple welcome quickly turned into an instant connection when Bill’s hockey shirt sparked conversation — one of our guests referees hockey in Hong Kong, their son plays hockey, and his wife is a proud Williams alum.

It’s little moments like this that remind us why we love hospitality: the stories, the connections, and the unexpected conversations that happen right here in our lobby.
