One of the sweetest surprises after our guests checked out…

I found these hand-painted beach stones tucked beneath the big pine tree at Just Beachy. 💙🏡🌿😊

It instantly took me back to my childhood. I spent hours searching for just the right beach stones, washing them off, imagining what each one could become, and then painting them. Every stone had its own personality.

Seeing these brought back all of those memories, and reminded me how simple moments often become the ones we remember most.

If these are yours, thank you for leaving a little joy behind. We love them, and I think future guests will smile when they discover them too.

Here’s another look at the Taste of Summer event in Gibson Park from yesterday. I hope this becomes an annual event. It was a really lovely day to be outside listening to live music, exploring the vendor tents, and food trucks. It reminded me of a smaller version of our annual WineFest (but not as much wine). Also a nice way to celebrate Father’s Day.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, grandpas, stepdads, father figures, and golf-loving guys out there.

We had a 4:06 tee time yesterday at Green Meadows Golf Course, a nice public course in great condition, about 6 miles from Clements Lake Erie Cottages in North East, PA. By the way, 6 miles here is only a 9-minute drive.

Afterward we stopped at Ruffed Grouse / Pub 20 for dinner. I had the Harvest Salad, which I love. It has grilled chicken, candied pecans, feta cheese crumbles, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, and poppyseed dressing. My husband loved the Fruit Salad with Shrimp, and our friends gave the thumbs up to the Jack Daniel’s burger with crispy, crinkle-cut sweet potato fries.

If your idea of a great Lake Erie getaway includes golf, food, wineries, craft brews, fishing, beach time, and a quiet place to stay, this area makes it easy to put together a fun weekend.

I stopped by the Taste of Summer Festival in Gibson Park today for lunch. The event continues through tomorrow with live music, food trucks, artisans and vendors booths.

Wow, it’s hard to keep up with all the new things our local businesses are offering.

I stopped into Driftwood Wine Cellars this week and discovered something I hadn’t seen before, wine slushies in a to-go pouch.

With more than 30 flavors, there seems to be something for everyone. I tried the White Peach and it was refreshing on a hot day.

What surprised me most, though, was the savory aroma when I walked through the door. Their flatbreads smelled amazing. Driftwood also offers cheese boards, cheese bread, chips and salsa, and other light bites, making it a great place to meet a friend for lunch, grab a snack during a wine tour, or relax for an afternoon downtown.

If you haven’t stopped in lately, Driftwood is located right in the heart of downtown North East, just steps from North East's Gibson Park Open Market.

Today I stopped by Julie's Sweet Treats in North East Borough for the first time while supporting Norah’s Waves and their mission of childhood drowning prevention.

This is definitely a local stop I’ll be recommending.

The display cases were packed with chocolate-covered everything. Pretzels, grapes, strawberries, meltaways, and more.

If you have a sweet tooth, it’s worth a stop the next time you’re in North East.

Vacation planning is important.

Beach access is important.

Sunsets are important.

But judging by the number of messages I get, coffee might be the most important thing of all. ☕😂

So for anyone wondering:

Both of my cottages have a traditional coffee maker AND a Keurig-style coffee maker.

No matter how you start your morning, I've got you covered. My goal is simple: keep everyone happy, especially before that first cup of coffee.

Now let's settle the debate...

Most visitors know about Presque Isle State Park and the Erie bayfront marinas.

Far fewer discover the town of North East, PA and the North East Marina just east of Erie, PA.

If you love fishing, boating, watching the charter boats come and go, or simply sitting by the water with an ice cream or wine and watching the sunset, the marina is worth a stop during your visit to Lake Erie Wine Country.

Yesterday our book club met in the old bank vault room at The Skunk & Goat Tavern, and it was the perfect setup for a group discussion.

The room seats about 10 people and gave us enough privacy that we could actually hear each other and have a real conversation without competing with the noise of a restaurant.

If you’re planning a ladies night out, a small birthday gathering, a graduation celebration, or even a book club, it’s a great option to keep in mind.

And the tomato soup? I still don’t know what their secret ingredient is, but I order it every single time I go to Skunk & Goat.
