Friends of Mildred Kanipe Memorial Park

Friends of Mildred Kanipe Memorial Park Committed to provide volunteer services to Douglas County to improve and care for the 1100 acre Mildred Kanipe Memorial County Park.

1,100 acres of oak woodland conifer forests, creeks, rolling hills, orchards and pastures. Historical structures include a turn-of-the-century schoolhouse, a farmhouse, and outbuildings. Mildred Kanipe single-handedly ranched and managed these lands most of her life. Upon her death in 1983 she bequeathed the ranch
with a trust fund to Douglas County with the agreement that the land be managed as a county park.

MILDRED'S GRAVE SITE FENCE RECONSTRUCTION IS COMPLETE!

The rebuilding of the picket fence around Mildred's grave is complete!

The old fence turned out to be in far worse shape than it appeared. most of the pickets were rotted and crumbled to the touch. It was literally held together by a thin layer of paint. The new fence is constructed of high quality wood and covered with a bright white good quality paint. This new fence, with occasional maintenance, should last for many years to come. -- *Note the beautiful picket fence arch that now highlights Mildred's headstone--- thanks to a very talented volunteer/board member.

A HUGE THANK-YOU to all that generously donated funds, materials and labor to this project. What a wonderful tribute to Mildred's memory.

A HUGE THANK-YOU to the folks who donated to the cost of upgrading Mildred's Grave Site!! You helped us come within a few dollars of our $500 goal and we are pretty sure that the rough sawn boards donated by Mark Wall, our Parks director, pushed it over the top!!

One of our very talented board members is working on forming and painting the individual pickets and building the fence panels now! The new fence should be in place sometime in May.

It won’t be long before Mildred’ Gravesite is restored to a place that honors her gift and shows how much our community values this 1100 acre piece of heaven!

Do you have the urge to make an End of Year Donation to a favorite cause?

We could not have completed this bridge repair in the Day Use Area without the generous support of our community.

Please consider making that end of the year donation (or any time!) to the Friends of Mildred Kanipe Memorial Park ---and we will keep doing what we have always done to help preserve this Park just as Mildred Kanipe wished when she donated it to the people of and visitors to Douglas County!

You can use the link to our PaypPal account below or use your phone to scan the QR code below that will take you to our Better World fundraising page.

Thank-you so much for your support!
