Tranquil. Restorative. Soul-soothing.

I got a little break this weekend, enough time to squeeze in a quick walk. Without even thinking about it, I headed off towards Perkins Cove. I took what our family calls “the back way,” down a couple of side streets that bring you to one of my favorite access paths to the Marginal Way, just above the Cove.

Spring, summer or fall, I love this path. Quiet and peaceful. I love how it feels a little bit hidden and mysterious under the stately trees that line either side. The path curves gently down toward the water until it opens up to Oarweed Cove, with Perkins Cove to the right and the Marginal Way to the left before it winds its way along the rocks.

Sometimes when I walk down here, I can hear the happy sounds of laughter from people walking on the Marginal Way, or music from the summertime concerts in the cove. This time, I mostly heard the sounds of nature - the birds singing and the waves crashing on the rocks. Exactly the reminder I needed to slow down for a minute, take a deep breath and appreciate everything around me in this beautiful place.

You will often see surfers in Ogunquit in the water off the Marginal Way, just down the hill from the inn. This video is from one of my walks last summer, but, amazingly, it is not unusual to see people surfing here year round!

Who knows, on your next visit, you might even be inspired to catch some waves too! 😎 🏄‍♂️ 🌊 🤙

Hello, June! ☀️

We are looking forward to leaving the rain behind and embracing the sunshine! ☺️ The gardens are blooming, the ocean air is back, and Ogunquit is starting to feel like summer again.

There’s something special about this time of year at Lighthouse Landing! Lovely mornings with coffee outside, long beach days ahead, flowers beginning to fill in around the inn, and that first real stretch of warm coastal evenings.

We’ve been looking forward to this season all year. Welcome back, summer in Maine 🌸🌊

Today, I’m dreaming about beach days with a little Little Beach reminiscing 🏖️ ☺️

There’s just something about a perfect beach day in Ogunquit ☀️

Morning coffee with the windows open. A walk along Marginal Way before the crowds. Bare feet in the sand by noon. Lobster rolls in Perkins Cove. Ice cream after dinner. Then ending the night with cool ocean air drifting through the room.

No packed itinerary. No rush. Just summer the way it’s supposed to feel.

June is one of our favorite times of year here in Ogunquit! Long days, quiet mornings, and that first true feeling of Maine summer returning again 🌊

Seen in Perkins Cove this weekend: so many beautiful, gorgeous flowers! 🌼🌷🌸

I noticed them more than ever this time, maybe because they stood out so vibrantly against the cloudy weather. Everywhere you look, there are stunning colors that brighten the view and add so much charm to the Cove.

Here are just a few that caught my eye. I usually gravitate towards the lilacs and tulips but these are all so beautiful, I love them all! 🥰

Sharing some summertime inspiration! 🌸

I found this video that I took in June of last year. It’s a view from the Marginal Way, just down the hill from the inn. I loved seeing it again so I thought I’d share! It captures summertime in Ogunquit so perfectly - the sounds, the views, the laughter - from Little Beach to Ogunquit Main Beach and beyond. When the tide is out, it feels like you can walk forever!

Of course, as lovely as they are in video, the views are even more spectacular in person. Make a plan this summer to see for yourself just how beautiful our little town is!

Every time I’m at the inn, I fall more and more in love with it.

The property is beautiful: the inn, the yard, the overall setting. This weekend, the inn looked especially lovely in the gorgeous weather and early afternoon sunlight.

But the beauty is also in the way I feel when I’m there. Happy. Proud. Grateful. Supported. Part of a team. A feeling of family. A sense of peace.

Yesterday, I was reminded of that in a lovely way. It was a beautiful day and I was running around doing some errands. When I got to Lighthouse Landing to drop off some supplies, I ran into Barbara, our property manager, and Jane, one of our cleaners. Barbara was full of positivity and energy as she always is, so happy to meet and welcome our guests, while Jane told me how much she loves the inn and how it’s her happy place. Kathy, who also does an amazing job cleaning for us, shared the exact same sentiment with me last week. And then I saw several new entries in our guest book, reflecting how much our guests enjoyed their time here. All things that make me so happy to hear.

As I was leaving the inn, ready to rush off to the next thing on my list, something made me pause. I stood on the steps for just a moment, looking around at the yard in front of me. And it hit me again, how much I love this place and everything about it: our wonderful team and our guests who make it feel like home, the quiet of a spring afternoon, the vibrant green of our yard with dots of pink, the Adirondack chairs ready to welcome gatherings of friends, the freshly painted picnic tables, the warm breeze, the hints of laughter that echo in the trees, the sound of the birds, the warmth of the sun. It feels peaceful, restful. A place that welcomes and relaxes and soothes you all at once.

I took this video as I was standing there, trying to capture how I felt in that moment. It’s just a simple view of the yard on a Sunday afternoon. Yet somehow it captures perfectly how grateful I am for this special place and the happiness it brings to my heart.

May in Ogunquit feels like the town taking a deep breath before summer arrives 🌼

The inn’s garden is starting to bloom, the mornings are still quiet enough to hear the ocean, and the Marginal Way sunsets somehow feel a little more personal this time of year.

If you’ve been thinking about a coastal reset before the busy summer season begins, now is one of our favorite times to be here.

It was a little rainy this weekend but even in the rain, a walk from the inn to the Marginal Way and the Ogunquit shoreline never disappoints. For me, the beauty in the mist, the waves crashing against the rocks and the surfers off in the distance (rain or shine) always bring a welcome sense of peace and calm. 🌧️ 🌊

Behind the scenes of getting a small inn ready for summer!

Fresh linens, deep cleans, and thoughtful updates in every room. Quiet mornings spent checking the details, lighting, bedding, outdoor spaces, so everything feels calm, comfortable, and ready the moment guests arrive.

There’s a lot that goes into the summer season prep before it begins, and it’s all done with one goal in mind: creating a place where people can truly relax and enjoy their time here.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you back soon.
