Inn on Turner isn’t for the birds… wellllll…except when she is . 🐦😉🤷‍♀️

Around here, birdwatching is less “an activity” and more of a “wow what just flew by” or the “omg look up” from our porchside perch

With the Pamlico Sound, tidal marshes, waterways and coastal forests all around us, Oriental is the place to watch the wild go by…. from the comfort of a porch swing or grabbing our camp chairs and heading into the areas many fields & forests

North Carolina is home to 470+ bird species and sits along the Atlantic Flyway, so depending on the season, YOUR guest list includes bald eagles, wild turkey, ospreys, herons, egrets, pelicans, shorebirds and migrating songbirds. OUR guest list included YOU, the birdwatching crew🪶

Oh & added bonus, let’s not forget the unfeathered locals who like to make an appearance … deer, fox and black bear that love the wide open spaces of Pamlico County!

✨ Sweet: A golden waffle sandwich layered with silky Coconut-Raisin Cream, crispy seared prosciutto & our Skillet Cardamom Candied Apples made with Perry Lowe Orchards apples + pecans from our own tree.

🥑 Savory: Creamy avocado, fluffy egg from The Hen Den & Eastern North Carolina ham tucked into local artisan bread ~ add that peppery yum of an arugula brekkie salad for full on Fall flavor

Christie Lenée with special guest, multi instrumentalist Katie Marie will be appearing at the Old Theater September 11.
Christie is a multi-year veteran of the Ol’ Front Porch Music Festival and several local music venues. This promises to be a wonderful show tailored to the unique people of Oriental.

Showtime: 7:30p. Box office opens at 6:30p, doors open at 7p. Tickets are $30 or $25 for Old Theater members, military families, and students. Children under 6 admitted free.
Tickets available with cash at Nautical Wheelers in Oriental and New Bern, and online at www.oldtheater.org with a $2 transaction fee.

Even rainy days are magical in Oriental. ☔️

Our guests aren’t tourists—they’re travelers. One of our favorite solo travelers has been coming back to us for years, from Beaufort to Oriental and she knows exactly how to do coastal cool: grab a good book, leave the screens behind, sip coffee by the harbor ~ watch shrimp boats come & go, wander the shops enjoying the calm of a walk in the rain.
