Wrapping up Father’s Day 2026 with this precious photo of a proud dad and his two sons celebrating an incredible morning on the water — five springers landed!
Aaron grew up in Oregon but moved to Georgia many years ago. This summer, he’s on a mission to introduce his boys to the Oregon wilderness, and the three of them have been camping and exploring their way across the state for the past three weeks.
Last week they were staying at the county campground across the river when the boys couldn’t resist the temptation of our dock and wandered over to fish. This weekend, despite us being completely booked, they asked if we had any availability. We managed to squeeze them into one of our overflow sites so they could spend more time fishing here.
While staying with us, they were fortunate enough to secure a Father’s Day trip with our guide friend Mitch Bell. The boys caught their first salmon, making memories they’ll never forget. But the best part of the story came when one of the boys, after already hooking and landing two fish, handed his rod to his dad on the third hookup so Aaron could fight and land a salmon himself.
That simple act meant the world to Aaron. He became emotional when he told me the story later.
Five fish is impressive, but that’s not what made this day special. Learning about a young boy give up his own opportunity so his dad could experience the joy of landing a salmon—that’s what Father’s Day is all about.
I’m so happy for this family. These are the moments they’ll remember forever.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. 🎣❤️👨👦👦
