Wrapping up Father’s Day 2026 with this precious photo of a proud dad and his two sons celebrating an incredible morning on the water — five springers landed!

Aaron grew up in Oregon but moved to Georgia many years ago. This summer, he’s on a mission to introduce his boys to the Oregon wilderness, and the three of them have been camping and exploring their way across the state for the past three weeks.

Last week they were staying at the county campground across the river when the boys couldn’t resist the temptation of our dock and wandered over to fish. This weekend, despite us being completely booked, they asked if we had any availability. We managed to squeeze them into one of our overflow sites so they could spend more time fishing here.

While staying with us, they were fortunate enough to secure a Father’s Day trip with our guide friend Mitch Bell. The boys caught their first salmon, making memories they’ll never forget. But the best part of the story came when one of the boys, after already hooking and landing two fish, handed his rod to his dad on the third hookup so Aaron could fight and land a salmon himself.

That simple act meant the world to Aaron. He became emotional when he told me the story later.

Five fish is impressive, but that’s not what made this day special. Learning about a young boy give up his own opportunity so his dad could experience the joy of landing a salmon—that’s what Father’s Day is all about.

I’m so happy for this family. These are the moments they’ll remember forever.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. 🎣❤️👨‍👦‍👦

This weekend, it was wonderful to see so many fathers and sons fishing together and celebrating Father’s Day on the river. It was especially heartwarming to see sons bringing their dads here to spend quality time together and make a few memories along the way.

Happy Father’s Day!

The big tides this week definitely brought a fresh push of fish into the river, and they’re behaving exactly like Springers often do. Two days ago, the fishing was excellent. Local legend Scott Amerman put 4 fish in the boat for his crew, while our guide friend Mitch Bell landed 5 fish under the bobber. We heard of several more being caught up and down the river.

Yesterday was a different story. Anglers could find the fish, see the fish, and even watch them cruising through the holes, but convincing them to bite was another matter entirely. Sometimes that’s just spring salmon fishing.

Let’s celebrate this special weekend with a few photos from the busy days on the river!

Fresh 40 dozen sand shrimp arrived today! A good push of fish has come into the river over the last couple of days, but the warm water has made them a little stubborn. We can see them, we can hear them, and every now and then they remind us they’re there—but so far they’ve mostly been giving us their fin-gers. 😂

Tomorrow is another day. Tight lines and fresh bait are ready when they decide to cooperate.

There are no strangers at the Raines Resort dock—just friends we haven’t met yet!

We witnessed the magic of community in action during a couple of cool evenings on the water this weekend. After hooking a beautiful salmon, a seasoned Nestucca angler passed his rod over to a first-time guest/fisherman without hesitation to let them reel in and keep the excitement. Inspired by the gesture, another guest treated the whole hungry crew to fresh, juicy steaks right on the dock because he overheard that they were hungry!

Kindness truly is infectious, and we are so grateful for the amazing guests who bring this precious spot to life. Let it spread like the ocean breeze! 🍃🐟

Thank you Mark Scoltock of Benchmark Outdoors for passing the rod! Thank you Eric Thompson for the delicious steaks 🥩. And thank you David Gurski for polishing our fillet table 😂 We appreciate you all and your kindness.

The fish didn’t play along today, but nobody seemed to mind. An afternoon spent on the dock away from the valley heat wave, watching bobbers, enjoying a cold beer, and talking about bacon-wrapped elk steaks is still a pretty good day in our book.

Nothing makes us happier than seeing our guests hook into a fish off the dock.

Tony has been giving it his all for three straight days, fishing through every tide change. Yesterday, a nice fish got away after snapping his leader, but he came back determined. Today, perseverance won the day, and he finally landed one.

The smile says it all. Persistence pays off. Well done, Tony! 🎣🐟😄
