In The Glow: Vonthera Healing Arts

Vacations are supposed to be relaxing.

Somehow, we often manage to turn them into the exact opposite.

We walk ten miles, try to see everything in one day, stay out too late and then wake up the next morning ready to do it all over again.

So here’s permission to add something completely different to your Paducah itinerary.

Located at 404 Broadway, VonThera Healing Arts is a therapeutic and restorative wellness center offering a different kind of downtown experience.

VonThera was established in 2017 and offers a range of services centered around the body, mind and overall wellness. Massage therapy is a major part of what they do, along with facial services and other restorative treatments.

And although VonThera isn’t new to Paducah, its home at 404 Broadway is.

The business recently relocated into the heart of downtown, putting massages, facials and wellness treatments within walking distance of downtown restaurants, shopping and many of Paducah’s attractions.

That makes it especially interesting for visitors.

Spend the morning exploring. Have lunch downtown. Book a massage in the afternoon. Then head back out for dinner.

Not every hour of a trip has to be spent sightseeing.

Sometimes taking an hour to slow down becomes one of the best parts.

In The Glow: Bleu Oaks Café

Some of Paducah’s best food isn’t necessarily found in the places with the biggest dining rooms.

Tucked away at 1049 Jefferson Street, Bleu Oaks Café has built a following around something fairly simple: really good lunches made with a little more care than you might expect from a quick lunch stop.

The menu is filled with big salads, wraps, sandwiches, homemade soups and some seriously loaded baked potatoes. Their dressings and desserts are made from scratch, and portions aren’t exactly shy. It’s the kind of place that works just as well when you want something fresh and lighter as it does when you want a baked potato piled high with chicken, bacon, cheese and everything else that makes lunch worth looking forward to.

A few menu standouts include the Strawberry Queen salad, Asian Chicken Salad, Caprese Press, Tuscan Turkey sandwich and their lineup of jumbo loaded baked potatoes. Bleu Oaks also offers catering, making it a familiar name behind the scenes at gatherings and events around Paducah.

What we love most is that Bleu Oaks feels very Paducah. It isn’t trying to be a chain or chase the latest restaurant trend. It’s a locally owned business doing its thing and doing it well.

If you’re visiting Paducah and looking for lunch somewhere you probably won’t find back home, add Bleu Oaks to the list.
