We have a great volunteer opportunity for you to help support the Special Olympics IL this summer:
Special Olympics IL Region B Softball – Sunday, July 26th at Elgin Sports Complex

We are looking for volunteers to help with the Region B Regional Softball Competition on Sunday, July 26th at the Elgin Sports Complex. There are several time slots and a variety of roles available. Please see the attached form for our council’s sign-up information, and follow the directions to sign up for this event.

Please consider spending a few hours with us on Sunday, July 26th. You will truly get to see the impact that the Knights of Columbus has on this organization! If you have any questions or if I can be of any assistance to you with volunteering for this event, please do not hesitate to reach me. I am deeply saddened to inform you of the passing of Dorothy Hlavacek, 91. She passed peacefully on June 11, under the care of the Alexian Brothers of Elk Grove Village. Dorothy was married to Brother SK Eugene 'Gene' Hlavacek in May 1959. Sadly, Gene passed away in December 2024.

• VISITATION. Thursday, June 18 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Hwy., Palatine.
• FUNERAL MASS. Friday, June 19 at 10:00 AM at St. Theresa Church.
• INTERMENT. At St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery following the funeral mass.

Eternal rest grant unto Dorothy, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May Dorothy's soul and the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen

As reported earlier, our dear Brother SK Mike Paolelli, PGK (69) passed suddenly last week in Rhode Island. Mike was a longtime member of Palatine's Holy Ghost Council #4977 with 31 years of continuous service, including serving as our Grand Knight in 2001-2002. Mike was also a 4th degree member of Bishop Sheil Assembly #2330.

Mike's wife Sue and family have requested that we honor Mike with a combination Honor Guard (4th degree Sir Knights in uniform) and HGC4977 Tribute Team (all degrees in suit/sash). Ceremonial sashes will be provided. The Honor Guard will assemble AT THE FUNERAL HOME VISITATION ONLY - no funeral mass honor guard.

Where? Davenport Family Funeral Home. 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Route 176, Crystal Lake, IL 60014

When? Tuesday, June 16. Honor Guard should arrive at 5:30 PM. The Honor Guard will pay tribute to Mike for 1 hour from 6:00 - 7:00 PM. Note that the full visitation hours are from 4 - 8 PM.

**UPDATE**
We are still in need of volunteers to carry the canopy during the neighborhood Eucharistic Procession. I have only received confirmation from 6 Knights. We need a minimum of 8 so, please consider helping with this important event. The more Knights, the easier it is for all of us.

Knights are expected to be in either the uniform or suit & sash.
Please respond to GK Steve if you are able to attend and assist with carrying the canopy.

1) Thursday June 4 after the 4pm Mass at St. Theresa
2) The Procession will be followed by 40 hours of adoration in the Chapel. Please sign up using the We Adore Him app or on the St Theresa website.

Holy Ghost Council is moving forward to win STAR COUNCIL for this year thanks to your efforts! But we are short one goal, we need a few more members to participate in a Fraternal Benefit Event.

We have ONE date left now to choose from. This is a repeat of May 12th so if you already watched it, thank you and no need to repeat. We are looking for a few members that HAVEN'T watched any of these online events this year.

Corpus Christi Procession CHANGE!

1) Date change from Sunday June 7 to Thursday June 4. Mass will be at 4pm at St. Theresa, followed by the Procession.

2) Volunteers please to carry the canopy during the Procession. If you signed up for Sunday and can make it on Thursday please let us know. We need two teams of 4 (8 total) to volunteer please.

3) The Procession will be followed by 40 hours of adoration in the Chapel. Please sign up for those hours using the adoration app.

We will be hosting a Bake Sale next weekend, May 2–3, at St. Thomas before and after all Masses—and we could really use your help!

Please consider donating baked or store-bought goods for the sale. Cookies, cakes, brownies, pastries—everything is welcome and will support our Council’s efforts. Items can be dropped off before or after any Mass on Saturday or Sunday.

We are also looking for volunteers to help sell these delicious treats throughout the weekend.
