โ๏ธ๐๏ธ Let's Talk About Travel Insurance ๐๏ธโ๏ธ
One thing many travelers don't think about when booking a vacation is travel insurance.
Personally, I never travel without it anymore. Years ago, I learned the hard way when an unexpected situation cost me a significant amount of money. Since then, travel insurance has become a must for me. I will not book a trip without it.
One of the most common responses I hear is:
"I don't need it. I'm healthy." or "I never thought it would happen to me."
The truth is, none of us think it will happen to us...until it does.
Travel insurance isn't just about your health. It protects you from many unforeseen events that can disrupt your trip, including:
โ๏ธ Illness or injury to you, your traveling companion, or a family member not traveling with you
โ๏ธ Severe weather causing travel delays or cancellations
โ๏ธ Unexpected work obligations such as a job transfer, merger, acquisition, or schedule change
โ๏ธ Jury duty, subpoenas, or being required to appear as a witness
โ๏ธ Quarantines or other covered unforeseen circumstances
โ๏ธ And many other situations depending on the policy
None of us can predict what life will bring between the day we book and the day we travel.
Years ago, travel insurance wasn't commonly offered by vacation rental owners and management companies. If something happened after the cancellation period, guests often lost their entire investment.
Today, many owners and management companies offer travel insurance through third-party providers. Guests now have the opportunity to protect themselves against unexpected events. The decision to purchase or decline coverage is entirely theirs.
At Chantale's Beach Condos, we offer two third-party options:
๐๏ธ Standard Travel Protection
๐๏ธ Cancel For Any Reason Travel Protection
Guests deal directly with the insurance company regarding coverage, claims, and reimbursements.
Why am I bringing this up?
Because I want travelers to understand why travel insurance is offered and how it can benefit them. When something happens after the cancellation period, travel insurance may provide options that otherwise would not exist.
Hotels have largely stopped offering free last-minute cancellations. Today, flexibility often comes at an additional costโanother reason why travel insurance is worth considering. I recently booked a one-night hotel stay near a medical facility for an upcoming appointment. I paid $30 extra per night just to allow a more flexible cancellation policy. I would rather purchase travel insuranceโwhich is usually a percentage of the trip costโthan pay a significantly higher nightly rate. But that's just my perspective after learning the hard way that life can change unexpectedly.
Travel insurance is a lot like homeowners insurance, car insurance, or health insurance. We purchase it hoping we'll never need it. The goal isn't to use itโthe goal is to have protection if something unexpected happens.
Whether you rent through a management company, a rent-by-owner property, a hotel, or a resort, take a moment to consider the travel insurance options available.
You may never need it.
But if life throws you a curveball, you'll probably find yourself saying one of two things:
"I'm so glad I purchased it."
Instead of...
"I never thought it would happen to me." ๐
Safe travels, everyone! โ๏ธ๐ด
