Oh no…3 days later…Mr. Raccoon visited and drank the hummingbird feeder dry and then dug up the turtle eggs and had a feast! Unbelievable that we couldn’t see where the turtle eggs were laid on the hillside but the raccoon could sniff them out.

Myrtle the turtle laid her eggs on the sandy hillside today. She dug a hole with her back hind legs and laid a clutch of eggs. When done, she covered the hole back up so neatly that it wasn’t even noticeable where she had been. Baby painted turtles will hatch in 60-90 days. 🐢

Enjoy a hot summer day tubing the Crow Wing River at The Outpost in Huntersville, MN! Lots of fun and kid friendly. River is typically shallow with 5 feet at its deepest point. $10 includes tube rental and a bus shuttle ride up stream. Enjoy an approximate 2 hour leisurely float down the river and get off at the green bridge with a short walk to The Outpost where you can enjoy some delicious food before you drive back to the cabin. Lots of fun and highly recommended!
