Stephen Leslie Baer, affectionately known as Steve, passed away on June 7, 2026, in Parsons, Kansas, at the age of 79. Born on June 5, 1947, in Jacksonville, Florida, Steve lived a life marked by dedication, loyalty, and love. No Services are planned at this time. Private burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Military Honors given by the McConnell Air Force Base Honor Guard.
A proud veteran, Steve devoted 26 years of service to the United States Air Force, including a memorable 37-month deployment in Southeast Asia, where he served in Vietnam and Thailand. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and his stories of those years reflected both the challenges and camaraderie of military life.

Outside of his military career, Steve cherished moments spent on the golf course and treasured time with family and friends. His membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.), where he served as Vice Commander, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (ELKs) were testaments to his community spirit and love for fellowship.

Steve was a devoted father who instilled pride and values in his children, ensuring they always knew how proud he was of them. His loyalty and loving nature were evident in every aspect of his life.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lola Baer; his parents, William D. and Leola M. Baer; and his son, Timothy A. Baer. Also preceding him in death are his brothers, Frank A. Baer and William D. Baer Jr.

Steve is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Baer (Brian) of Portland, Oregon; his son, Mark Baer (Kimberly) of Molalla, Oregon; and step-daughter Jackie Thies (Jan) of Quarryville, PA. He also leaves behind two stepsons, Michael Bendixen (Lisa) of Casper, WY, and Raymond Carl Bindixen (Robin) of Parsons. His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and eleven step-great-grandchildren.

A private family burial will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, where Steve will be laid to rest beside his loved ones.

Steve's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the stories shared by his family, friends, and fellow servicemen and women. His unwavering devotion to his family and country serves as a lasting inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Arlice G. Smith, 89, of Oregon, Wisconsin, and formerly of Parsons, passed away the morning of Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at The Beehive Home of Oregon. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jackson “Jack” Smith, on August 2, 2024.

Oliver D. Jarman, infant, of Edna, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.

Visitation will be Friday, June 12, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, Parsons.

Randy Brown, 67, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at his residence. There will be a Celebration of Life beginning at 1:00 p.m., June 20, 2026 at Tony’s Function Junction in Erie.

Randy Joe Brown was born on May 24, 1959, to Jack D. and Sandra Lee (McDonald) Brown in Parsons. He grew up and attended school in Erie and St. Paul, graduating from Erie High School in 1977. Following high school, he earned an associate’s degree.

A talented musician, Randy was the guitarist for The Second Chance Band, while working in the oil fields. For a time, he ran the Eagle’s and even modeled double-breasted suits for JC Penney’s. In 1995, Randy started his HVAC business, which he owned and operated for 31 years.

A loving father, Randy tried to instill creativity in his children. He enjoyed using his creative talents in music and oil painting. His quick wit and clever storytelling helped him befriend most everyone he met, and his distinctive voice and laughter added to his charm. Riding Harleys, collecting guns and watching Westerns were some of Randy’s favorite past times.

On September 30, 2022, Randy and Dana Jean Adams were united in marriage at the Erie Baptist Church. She survives of the home.

Amanda “Panda” Webb (Corey) of Oronogo, Missouri

Cassidy “Punk” Brown of Bentonville, Arkansas

Seven grandchildren – Gage Gannaway, Hailee McClelland, Dallas Brown, Kaison Brown, Kamri Golden, Roman Webb, and Alex Webb

One brother – Kevin Standley (Kathy) of St. Paul, Kansas

One sister – Kimberly Standley of St. Paul, Kansas

Lupe Ponce, 78, of Parsons, passed away unexpectedly, early Saturday morning, June 6, 2026, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 13, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Nic Jurgensmeyer celebrating. Brown-Bishop Post No. 704 VFW will conduct military honors. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery later. The Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m., Friday, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons visitation will follow the Rosary.

Lupe was born on August 11, 1947, at Chanute to Raphael and Ysidora (Caberra) Ponce. He grew up in Chanute and attended St. Patrick’s and Chanute schools graduating from Chanute High School in 1965. He served in the United States Army and Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Alaska. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Parsons.

He attended Labette Community College and Pittsburg State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Lupe worked at IMI, Flesh, Fred Ronalds, and at Blair Trailers as an accountant. He also worked at SKIL for three years.

Lupe was active in volunteerism, delivering for Meals on Wheels, delivering donuts, and helping people with their taxes. He was a faithful member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Parsons Elks Lodge No. 527, Chanute American Legion and VFW, and the VOZ organization, serving as a committee member for over 40 years.

He and Esther M. Hernandez were united in marriage on August 30, 1969, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on October 21, 2022.

He is survived by his sons, Anthony Ponce, and his wife, Tammy of Joplin, MO, and Benjamin Ponce, and his wife, Michelle of Winfield; four grandchildren, Aidan Ponce, and his wife, Mandy of Webb City, MO, Rece Ponce of Joplin, MO, Gabrielle Ponce of Wichita, and Alexus Ponce of Winfield; his great-granddaughter, Ava Ponce of Webb City; five brothers, Ruben Ponce, and his wife, Janet Austin, TX, Harley Ponce of Chanute, Theodore “Ted” Ponce of Chanute, Ralph Ponce of Wichita, and Chris Ponce, and his wife, Susan of Chanute; three sisters, Mick Hernandez, and her husband, Joe of Chanute, Rebecca Rodriguez, and her husband, Pete of Wichita, and Elizabeth Guerra, and her husband, Frank of Olathe; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Esther, Lupe was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Ponce, and his sister, Mary Fernandez.

Naomi Ruth (Robinson) Buntin, 84, of Erie, and a former Glencoe, Oklahoma resident, passed away at 10:38 a.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2026, at the East Hill Cemetery with burial following the service. The family will receive friends at the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Erie from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday.
