Do you prefer hiking trails that are not overly demanding?
Baxter State Park offers several options, including the Martin Pond trail, which is a relatively easy 7.2-mile loop with an elevation of 594 feet. This trail, part of the Kahtadin Lake Trail loop, provides scenic views, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a more relaxed hiking experience.

Spent sometime this weekend with three of our five grandchildren, Maine wildlife park with the three of them on Friday, then an overnight stay with our two youngest with a mid morning trip to the playground. We love our time with them 🥰❤️

For the past three years, my husband and I have poured our hearts into building our little cabin business.

He's a carpenter. I work a full-time job, run a photography business, and now manage the cabins. Between the two of us, we've spent countless evenings, weekends, and more money than we'd like to admit turning this dream into reality. There were days when it felt like all we did was work, build, fix, clean, and plan for what came next.

This summer, we've decided it's time to enjoy a little of what we've worked so hard to create.

We're going to slow down a bit. Drink our coffee on the porch. Watch the deer wander through the field. Enjoy the sunsets. Sit around the fire. Take in the peace and quiet of our little slice of heaven here in the North Maine Woods.

We'll still be around, of course. You might see him out mowing the field. You might find me sitting on the porch with my morning coffee. Or maybe we'll both be gathered around the fire at the end of the day.

Most of all, we're looking forward to meeting new guests, hearing your stories, and sharing this special place with you.

We built these cabins hoping others would find the same peace here that we do.

Maybe we'll see you this summer. ❤️🏡☕🔥

There's something special about being awake before the rest of the world.

The coffee is hot, the air is cool, and the morning light is just beginning to spill across the field.

Then, almost like clockwork, the deer appear.

They wander out from the woods, grazing peacefully, sometimes chasing each other across the grass as the sun rises behind them. No traffic. No noise. No rush. Just one of those simple moments that reminds you how beautiful life can be when you slow down long enough to notice it.

These are the moments we love most at 207 North Cabins.

Come sit on the porch, sip your coffee, and watch nature put on its morning show. 🦌☕🌅

Life moves fast.

Between work, family, responsibilities, and the never-ending to-do list, it's easy to rush through the days without really noticing the little things.

At the cabin, things are different.

The coffee tastes better when you're sitting on the porch watching the morning sun peek through the trees.
The conversations last a little longer around the fire. And suddenly you find yourself stopping to admire the wildflowers growing along the trail, listening to the birds, or watching a deer wander through the field.
Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is slow down enough to notice what's been there all along.

Come spend a few days at 207 North Cabins. Unplug, unwind, and remember what it feels like to stop and smell the flowers. 🌼☕🌲

Northern Lights Forecast for Maine

Thursday Night, June 4, 2026

Maine has a legitimate opportunity to see the northern lights tonight as multiple coronal mass ejections arrive at Earth. NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center has issued a **G3 Strong Geomagnetic Storm Watch**, with moderate to strong geomagnetic storming expected to continue through the evening and overnight hours.

The forecast peaks near **Kp 7** between **8:00 and 11:00 p.m. EDT**, followed by Kp 6-level activity between **11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.** That should be enough for the aurora to become visible across much of Maine if the storm develops as expected.

Best Time to Look

The sky will still be too bright early in the evening because we are approaching the longest days of the year. Start checking the northern horizon around **9:30 p.m.** The best viewing window should be roughly **10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.**

Northern Maine may have stronger aurora activity, but it will also take longer for the sky to become fully dark. In Presque Isle, astronomical twilight does not end until shortly after **11:00 p.m.**

Sky Conditions

Cloud cover should not ruin the opportunity, although conditions will not be perfectly clear everywhere. Southern and western Maine should have some of the cleaner viewing conditions with mostly clear skies and light winds. Clouds may gradually increase overnight in parts of central, eastern, and northern Maine, so it is worth checking earlier rather than waiting until the middle of the night.

Viewing Tips

Find a dark location away from city lights with an unobstructed view toward the north. The aurora may initially appear as a faint gray or pale-green glow to the naked eye. A phone camera using night mode or a longer exposure may capture colors and detail that are difficult to see at first.

This is a promising setup, but the exact timing and intensity will depend on how the incoming solar material interacts with Earth’s magnetic field. Check the sky periodically after 9:30 p.m., especially if NOAA confirms stronger storm levels during the evening.
