The tiny hidden gems 💎

While spending some relaxing downtime at the cabin, I happened to look up at the stairs at just the right angle…and a heart appeared! ❤️😃

I was thinking of standing the tops of the steps, but need to make sure to preserve this hidden gems in the stairs.

We always contend that there is something worth visiting the Smokies in every season.

Winter carries a different kind of beauty in the Smokies. Dollywood shuts down for the winter, as do several other attractions and restaurants. But we find the best moments are spent staying tucked in at the cabin, cozy by the fire or indulging in the hot tub’s contrasting warmth to the air. Perhaps the best trait is the lack of crowds and traffic. You are more likely to enjoy a hike to yourself, and a smooth travel to a dinner out.

The view changes, too. Without the foliage, the mountains stretch farther into the distance, and the night sky feels sharper and more alive—Orion taking center stage above. Sunsets grow even more dramatic, spilling across the ridgeline where the tallest peaks rise to the west. The fire tables glow a little warmer, inviting you to linger just one more hour, extending the evening into quiet stargazing.

We love all the seasons, but winter holds a special place in our hearts at Kindred Spirits in the Smokies
