Hilda thought she was a walk on for the Chicago Bears

A Tennessee high school's football practice was briefly interrupted when a bear streaked across the field. The practice was delayed for about 15 minutes.

It's necessary for the Silver Lake Campers' Association to address some problems facing us. Currently the primary problems are that the Board of Directors has only 4 active members and the Association has not had a meeting of members for some time. It is necessary to have the membership meeting to take care of all the other problems.
We need to have a place to hold the meeting. The Association does not have the funds at this time to rent a meeting space. The Board is asking the membership to work on finding a place to hold our meeting. If you have any ideas or contacts please give a call, or send a message, to a board member.
I will update you on the other concerns soon.

The City has posted no trespassing signs at Camp (LOL, folks will continue to walk through to see the natural beauty and historical landmarks). They are in the process of re-keying all the buildings. An Assessor was at camp taking photos and obtaining GPS readings for all buildings.
They are not looking to close the camp. They will be making repairs and improvements as necessary after an inspection of the camp and reviewing notes and recommendations I've given them. A report will be written about what they find and sent up the chain of command, eventually to the City Council.
The immediate goal is to determine what needs to be done for the camp to reopen and the cost. I've offered to assist in any way they can use me.
Once repairs and improvements have been made, they will request proposals for those who may be interested in running the camp.
Silver Lake Campers' Association will be able to submit a proposal at that time. Of course, the city will have the option to run the camp themselves.
More to follow.

Your humble servant,
Hombre de Las Montanas

There have been a lot of rumors being passed around as to why Camp didn't open for the 2023 season. There are several reasons, however the primary is the Association failed to submit the required paperwork to the City of Stockton and failed to submit a request for contract extension. The contract expired in December 2022 and the City of Stockton officially took over the Camp.
There were also financial problems. Due to damage and equipment problems in 2021 and 2022 it was necessary for the association to front funds to cover the problems. The Board's representative to the City did not fill out the required paperwork to get reimbursed, therefore the Association was unable to pay other bills and did not have funds to open camp with.
Representatives of the City have been requesting my assistance with things regarding the camp. To that end I've been to one in person meeting and met with them at camp twice, covering a total of three days. I've inspected most of the camp. Winter was good for us, only minor new damage.
The soonest camp will open again is 2024 season, but no guarantee.

Talk again soon,
Hombre de Los Montanas
