We had an absolute blast setting up this tent outside The Pump House down in Homestead near The Waterfront. A ton of Yinzer History in One Building. It was used to pump 17,740 gallons per minute, which in return cooled the steel being produced at the steel mills in Homestead.
The Homestead Labyrinth was created to be a meditative journey that memorializes those who died on the site during the 1892 Battle of Homestead. Spanning 68-feet, the labyrinth features more than 250 triangular stones, labeled with the names of steel mills, foundies, and blast furnaces from throughout the region. These steelworkers went on strike and just wanted to have equity in the workplace and be treated fairly.
