Three years ago today, we became the new owners of Wolf Cove Inn. We were two very happy ‘kids,’ freshly settling into a new state after moving from California, with a baby en route in just a few months. We were eager, antsy, excited, and completely unaware of what it actually meant to run a business. We were incredibly green, but we had such ambitious dreams of what this place could become over time.
Looking back on these three years, we couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve accomplished, and that 24/7, 365 candle still burns to fulfill new dreams for what the inn can be. I recently told a guest that we ride a fine line between obsession, insanity, and perfection—but I suppose that’s what happens when you truly love what you do.
It needs to be said, though, that none of this would be possible without our incredible staff. They hold this place together when we aren’t able to be present. It’s also crucial to highlight our partners throughout it all: the farmers, purveyors, creatives, our interior designer, the vendors, the landscapers, and our general contractor. This dream wouldn’t be a reality without you. What makes the hospitality industry in Maine so special is that it is truly the most supportive community. It’s like a small village where everyone knows each other. The hardworking hustle is contagious, and it’s a privilege to be a part of it.
During a beautiful wedding this weekend, a guest gave Nicole and me one of the greatest compliments we could ever receive. It still gives me chills to write it. She said, “Thank you. Because of you and what you’ve created here, you have touched so many lives. Memories that will live forever with so many people.”
That right there is exactly why we do what we do.
Thank you for being a part of this journey with us. Three years in, and we still feel like we’re only just getting started.
