The Norwegian Bliss sailed past the inn on its way to Los Angeles, as the Alaska cruise season comes to a close. The days grow shorter as the sun heads south as well.

Victoria has done it again! 🏆

For the fourth year in a row, Victoria has been named the best small city in the world in Condé Nast Traveler’s annual Readers’ Choice Awards.

Nearly 800,000 travellers took part in this year’s awards, with BC’s capital coming out on top against some pretty impressive international destinations, including San Sebastián, Spain and Venice, Italy.

The publication highlighted many of the things that make our corner of the world so special, from the scenic ferry ride to Vancouver Island and Victoria’s historic downtown to the Fairmont Empress, afternoon tea and easy access to the Island’s forests and coastline.

Victoria first claimed the number one spot in 2023 and has managed to hold onto the title every year since.

“To be recognized by travellers from around the world for a fourth consecutive year is both humbling and inspiring,” Destination Greater Victoria CEO Paul Nursey said following the announcement.

Not bad for our little city on the Island.

Do you think Victoria deserves to be named the best small city in the world?

Our guests are the best one can find anywhere in the world! We especially love those who return gracious words after they head back to their homes. A recent couple left this 5-star review:

"This B&B is such a gem, and so are its owners, Dan and Janet. Each morning’s breakfast was gourmet and delicious, and the coffee roasted on site was a treat all its own. I’ll never forget sipping hot coffee while overlooking the strait and listening to the foghorns—one of those peaceful moments you wish you could take home with you. From the lavender sachets to the thoughtful patriotic decor, so many special touches made us feel as though we had stepped into Mount Vernon itself. You can feel the care Dan and Janet have poured into this place. It was such a memorable part of our first trip to the Pacific Northwest with our daughter, and we’ll remember our stay with so much fondness."
