The Port Huron Township Recreation Board is an appointed nine-member board. at the Port Huron Township Hall. and runs until 3:00 p.m.

The Recreation Department is currently sponsoring The Easter Eggstravaganza, Free Fishing Clinic, Summer Recreation Program, Concerts in the Park, Family Fall Festival, Coffee with Veterans, and the Holiday Lights Contest. The 2026 members are: Veronica Caplinger, Peter Shonka, Joan Jacobs, Chantel Warner, Jenna Lemmon, and Shelby Nichols. The Board Meetings are held the second Monday of each mon

th at 6.00 p.m. The Board currently sponsors several programs: The Easter Egg Hunt. Free Fishing Clinic, Summer Recreation Program, Concert in the Park, Family Fall Festival and the Holiday Lights Decoration Contest. EASTER EGG HUNT
The Easter Egg Hunt is held the weekend before Easter weekend. We have found that it is best to plan an indoor egg hunt. The past few years the Easter Eggstravaganza has been held at Central Middle School. Our attendance has averaged 200-300 children. We have inflatable activities, a magic show, crafts, pictures with the Easter Bunny, balloon animals, snacks, juice boxes and popcorn. SUMMER REC PROGRAM (seven week program)
Join the Summer Recreation Program for a fun-filled seven week program designed to keep your children entertained and occupied while interacting with many of their friends old and new. This program offers many special days with contests, parties, tournaments, field trips and more. This drop-in program is available to children registered in kindergarten through the age of 14. There are two Supervisors and a dozen or more high school aged students working at this program. This program starts at 9:00 a.m. A typical day would include playing sports games or other outdoor games then breaking for lunch (children bring their own sack lunch daily). After lunch the children may continue outdoor games, play box hockey or participate in making a craft. FAMILY FALL FESTIVAL

This event is a family-oriented afternoon of early fall fun in one of Port Huron Townships parks. In the past we have drawn crowds of 300—400 people. We offer hayrides, carnival type games for children, a magic show, fire truck tours, and inflatable activities. It’s a wonderful way to spend an afternoon with your family and a nice way to meet your neighbors in the Port Huron Township area. HOLIDAY LIGHTS DECORATING CONTEST

All Port Huron Township residents are welcome to participate in our annual holiday light display contest. Anyone may nominate themselves or their neighbors. Prizes will be awarded.

You were amazing! Although you're still here for two more weeks, we're unpacking the flannel because the fall show is coming!
While peak color typically comes around mid-October, we’ll start seeing the first hints of fall as early as mid-September. And with Michigan's Thumbcoast stretching from shoreline to countryside, there’s no shortage of beautiful places to take it all in. So prepare yourself for pumpkin-flavored things.

This year’s ceremony will feature a quieter and more reflective format, focused on remembrance and honoring those who were lost. There will be no formal speeches, rifle volley, choir, or dove release as in previous years.
The morning will include:
-Two Memorial Displays featuring the names of the police, fire, and EMS personnel who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
-Three Memorial Wreaths representing Police, Fire, and EMS, placed between the memorial displays.
-Multi-Agency Honor Guard maintaining a continuous Casket Watch throughout the ceremony.
-A Quiet, Solemn Tribute centered on reflection, remembrance, and paying respects. The ceremony will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., reflecting the approximate timeline of the September 11 attacks.
This memorial ceremony will provide an opportunity for members of our community, first responders, city leaders, and visitors to stop by, spend a moment in quiet reflection, honor those who were lost, and pay their respects
