Raton Pass Motor Inn

Raton Pass Motor Inn Raton Pass Motor Inn is the place for vintage cool in northern New Mexico. We've got 15 individually Raton Pass Motor Inn opened in 1956 as the Capri Motel.
(338)

It has been through some changes over the years, even slipping into seediness for a while, as old roadside motels tend to do. Luckily, it survived that phase, and it's mid-century spirit has been reawakened. All of the rooms are now themed - you can choose from the Santa Fe Trail Room, the Man Cave, the Sombrero, the Matador, the Pin Up or even Lucky Thirteen. Raton itself is a charming, somewhat

gritty little burg, with a downtown full of historic buildings and lots of interesting lore. The entire downtown is on the National Register of Historic Places, and you can go to a movie in a theater that first opened in 1930, or attend a show at the Schuler, which opened over one hundred years ago. Raton now has it's own microbrewery and craft cocktail bar. Things are starting to happen in Raton, which is super exciting for us to see. Come stay with us. We treat our guests like part of our big, quirky and interesting family!

Take a short motorcycle ride from Raton, NM to Cimarron, NM, and you might just find real cowboys (AND cowgirls) doing real cowboy things.

Not scheduled. Not staged for the tourists. Just working the land and wrangling the horses.

Hey friends and fans! We are proudly hosting the next chair, a piece by Kyle Pintor, in a series of 12 artfully reclaimed old wooden dinning chairs.

It was part of a recent art installation, “We Saved You A Seat”, a creative chairs collaborative coordinated by the Raton Art Space & Community Garden.

This chair showcases Kyle’s creative vision in paint and will be displayed in the Raton Pass Motor Inn office for awhile. The chair will then rotate to a new location in the city.

These chairs, 12 of them, were discovered in an old barn. They were distributed to local artists who were asked to let their creativity run wild.

I love night scene and cactus on the back!

Take a peek when you check in, or get a look-see while sipping your morning coffee.

PHONE PROBS!! ☎️

Hey friends and fans! Some of our guests have had difficulty calling and getting through to us on the phone.

We reported it to the phone company--they are aware--we are not alone, other local numbers are affected.
They hope to have it fixed soon!

The phone company said it's mostly affecting long distance calls (which is 99.99% of our callers 🙄) and it's spotty. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

If you are having trouble ringing through to us (575-445-3641), keep trying! Or email us at [email protected].

If you just need to book a room, you can always do that on our website: www.RatonPassMotorInn.com.

Be Bear Aware!

For the past couple weeks we've seen evidence of bear activity mostly in the driveway/alley behind the motel and next to our house (near the glamping garden). But no actual bear sightings (yet).

So, we put up a sign to remind folks to be cautious. Yes, we really do have bears. Right here. On the property.

Yesterday, Michael finally got a glimpse of the bear--a big ol' cinnamon black bear--sprinting across the driveway/alley, up the hill behind the glamping garden, and into the woods. No time to snap for photos. The bear was on a mission!

So, keep your eyes peeled and make some noise.
