We have guests in all the way from Colorado to pick up this guy. He’s an American Water Spaniel. No name yet, but the owners are leaning towards Oakley. He’s so cute I had to get a photo!

Opening day is getting close!
We are opening for the year this Friday! Looking forward to seeing you.

The bar will not be open tonight! The bathrooms are getting a remodel before we open this year. The log siding in the one photo hasn’t seen the light of day in over 50 years. It’s the original exterior before the bathrooms were added in turning the building into a bar in the early 1970s. Barring any issues (always possible) planning to post the completed photo in a couple weeks.

The second photo does have just a little ice in it, but that’s the last ice left on the lake. It would need to survive a thunderstorm followed by hours of wind hitting the shoreline. Highly unlikely. So we are going to call it today, and congratulations to the three winners of this years ice out challenge. Kevin Brekke, Jason Schier and Wayne Thuecks. You have all won a pizza at Brekke’s Resort!

Fresh for this year, our sign just got a little makeover. The robin in the second photo flew in and watched me do it pretty much every step of the way.

Brekke’s Resort’s Ice Out Challenge!
Final call, and again don’t guess as a comment on this post. Instead send a message to the resort with your guess via Facebook or Instagram. The past few years getting so many guesses on a post has lead to spam comments.
But all you need to do is send a message saying the date you think the ice will go out on Lake George. If you’re right, you win a pizza at Brekke’s Resort.

We are going to make a change this year. Do not guess by making a comment on this post. Instead, send your guess as a message to the resort via Facebook or instagram. You could send one message for your entire group if you’d like. I’ve had issues with spam comments the past few years, just trying to avoid that. People do enjoy this, so I’d like to keep it going.
All you need to do is send a message saying the date you think Lake George will be ice free. If you’re right, you win a pizza at Brekke’s Resort.
This year you need to send that message by March 31. The photo was just taken, so as you can see we have a way to go.

Quite the snow over the weekend! We had about 10 inches, but the way it drifted was incredible! Actually re-opened the snowmobile trails. Don’t see that every year.
