A delicious dinner and an evening of kindness, thanks to the Rotary Club of Hanover County, VA!

Members of the club recently volunteered to prepare and serve dinner for approximately 40 guests at The Doorways, sharing not just a meal, but their time and generosity with those staying with us while receiving medical care.

We’re so grateful to the Rotary Club of Hanover County for their thoughtful service, warm hospitality, and continued commitment to making a difference in our community. Thank you for being part of The Doorways family!

Three items are at the top of our pantry wish list this month!

For October, we’re looking for paper bowls, travel-size toiletries, and granola bars to help provide everyday essentials for guests staying at The Doorways.

Next time you’re shopping, consider picking up an extra few items, or shop our wish list to have donations delivered directly to us: thedoorways.org/support/donate-goods

For patients and families traveling to Richmond for medical care, having an affordable place to stay can make all the difference.

A $7,500 grant from Langley for Families Foundation, is helping The Doorways provide lodging for patients and families from Hampton Roads.

We're grateful to Langley Federal Credit Union for investing in the health and well-being of the communities they call home.

We had some early holiday cheer thanks to a visit from the Richmond Times-Dispatch's 2026 Christmas Mother, Cabell West!

Cabell toured The Doorways, met with guests, and learned more about our mission and daily operations.

For many years, the Richmond Christmas Mother Fund has helped make the holidays brighter for patients and families spending the season away from home through festive celebrations, special meals, and gifts.

Care isn’t a one-time act. At The Doorways, it happens day after day, often in the little things that keep our house ready and welcoming for the guests who rely on us.

Meet Tony, our newest team member and already a C.A.R.E. Champion! As a houseman, Tony helps care for the spaces our guests call home during their stay.

We’re glad to have him on our team!

From celebrating at CarMax Park to a night filled with great food, drinks and even better company, we couldn’t have imagined a better way to celebrate 21 years.

A huge thank you to Gilbane Building, our generous sponsors and everyone who joined us for making it all possible. Every dollar raised helps The Doorways provide lodging and support for patients and families traveling to Richmond for medical care.

Throughout September, we’ve seen what it means when community shows up.

For C&F Bank, showing up looked like dinner around the table.

Volunteer-provided meals are about more than what’s on the plate. They’re a reminder to our guests that while they’re far from home and navigating difficult days, there’s a community here ready to welcome them.

Thank you to our good friends at C&F Bank for showing up and serving dinner with heart.
