Shirley's Bed & Breakfast A vintage Bed and Breakfast with a twist. Shirley's Bed & Breakfast is an expansive log home located adjacent to Ballyhack Golf Course.

It is private and secluded, yet only just 10 minutes from downtown Roanoke and 20 minutes from Smith Mountain Lake. Shirley's is a perfect spot for small parties, weddings or getaway's. All room suites are spacious and offer ensuite baths. The common areas are grand gathering spaces with fireplaces. The pool and sun deck are simply luxurious.

One of our newest visitors at Shirley’s this week was a mama deer and her two babies. 🦌

The little family spent some time around the property, and one of the fawns was especially curious, following us around and keeping a close eye on everything that was going on.

It’s not every day you get to see wildlife up close like this, but it’s one of the things we love most about life in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We were lucky enough to snap a few photos to share!

One of my favorite things about owning a bed & breakfast is watching complete strangers become friends.

This morning, we had guests from London and Somerset, England sharing our breakfast table with guests from Dallas, Texas and Harrisonburg Virginia. What started as breakfast conversations turned into stories, laughter, and connections that lasted long after the coffee cups were empty.

As they were leaving, they were still standing by their cars chatting and exchanging stories. Seeing people from different places and different walks of life connect like that truly makes my heart happy.

Moments like these remind me that a bed & breakfast is so much more than a place to stay—it’s a place where friendships begin.

Hi friends! 👋 I’m Cheryl, the proud owner of Shirley’s Bed & Breakfast, a one-of-a-kind getaway nestled in the beautiful mountains of Roanoke. ⛰️

My husband Jeff and I are grateful to share this dream together. We have two sons, Jordon and Jeremy, wonderful daughters-in-laws Allison and Brittany, and two beautiful grandchildren, Jameson and Janey. Family means everything to us, and that same warmth is what we hope every guest feels here.

Friends….
Jeffrey and I are rolling back into Roanoke after a 10-day trip to Oklahoma. We stopped in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, for a few days — not much fall color there yet. But… we’ve got beautiful colors here in Roanoke! 🍁

If you spend some time with us and the Blue Ridge Mountains, you’ll be happy! And we even had a pretty little butterfly that stayed overnight at Shirley’s. 🦋

Look at all the deer! 🦌 The herd must not have heard that the season is almost upon us. The best part? They’re available for “pick up” — absolutely FREE with your reservation! All you need to do is love them as much as we do.

This morning we counted 12 in the front yard, and now they’ve even started a wrestling match for our entertainment. Nature really does put on the best show!

Our guest are getting some good entertainment this morning.
