The Grand Old Lady had the honor of welcoming the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation’s Power of Pink Luncheon today, bringing the Virginia's Blue Ridge community together in support of those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.

The afternoon held particular meaning for The Hotel Roanoke family as two of our own, Megan Jackson and Teresa Chewning, participated in this year’s fashion show. As keynote speaker, Megan also shared her experience living with metastatic breast cancer, offering a personal message of hope and a commitment to helping others navigate their own diagnoses.

Our sincere gratitude to every guest who joined us, and to the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation, emcee Lindsey Kennett, sponsors, volunteers and local fashion partners whose care and generosity made this gathering possible. Your support helps extend breast cancer testing, education and resources to women and men throughout Southwest Virginia.

It was a privilege to host an afternoon dedicated to honoring lives, strengthening connections and ensuring that others have support when they need it most.

When Peggy Bray’s granddaughter Alicia reached out to The Regency Room, she hoped to recreate a cherished memory: a favorite crab cake dinner from years past that Peggy still spoke of with a smile.

Diane Speaks shared the request with General Manager Brian Wells. Together with Chef Wells Selbe and the team, they carefully brought that beloved meal back to the table for one special evening.“It’s rare these days we get to recreate memories,” Alicia wrote.

At The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center, it is a privilege to make moments like these possible through thoughtful details, personal attention, and a team that understands how much one special dinner can mean.

For Peggy and Alicia, a cherished memory returned to the table. For the hotel staff, the privilege of making it happen.
