Each November, the whitetail rut arrives, the breeding season when bucks are most active, driven by shorter days with less sunlight (rather than temperature).

Nature leaves signs signaling what’s to come. Rubs begin to show on cedar and mesquite, where bucks scrape away bark to mark territory. Scrapes appear on the ground, and deer are more active during the day, covering more ground than in September.
