Meet A Treasured View, a quintessential Maine cottage tucked onto the peninsula off Hendrickson Point in Owls Head. This one has been in the same family for generations, and the moment you settle onto the wrap-around porch, you'll understand why they never wanted to leave.

250 years. 🇺🇸

In Maine, July 4 has always looked like this: a wraparound deck overlooking Penobscot Bay, a bonfire on the beach below, lobster on the grill, kids running barefoot through wet grass, ice cream that drips faster than you can eat it, and fireworks reflecting off the water at dusk. The traditions that feel quiet enough to last another 250.

The photos in this post are from Gazebo Beach Cottage, a beloved property we are so glad to have back in our inventory for the 2026 season. Tucked into the historic waterfront district of Temple Heights in Northport, with semi-private beach access for that 4th of July bonfire, it captures exactly what a Maine summer holiday should feel like.

The Semiquincentennial (a word we have practiced saying out loud) lands on a Saturday this year, and we can't think of a better place to celebrate it than the Maine coast, where the bay does the heavy lifting on atmosphere and the fireworks have water to reflect off.

This is Woodcrest Compound in Camden, Maine. The rare property that gives you both halves of a Maine summer: the quiet, tucked-in-the-woods feeling AND the walk-around-the-village energy of Camden, just five minutes down the road.

The setup is two separate buildings on one private property. The main house has a sun-filled garden room that opens to the back deck, an eat-in kitchen, a formal dining room, and a sitting room with a Smart TV. The guest cottage on the other side of the driveway has its own kitchen, three bedrooms, and a finished basement with that beloved ping pong setup. Together, the compound sleeps twelve.

Shared between the houses: a fenced backyard with a fire pit, a private gate leading to a walking and nature trail along a brook, and the kind of quiet that you can only get when you are nestled into the woods on a dead-end street.

But when you want the bustle, Camden Village is a five-minute drive. Thirty-plus restaurants, several recent James Beard winners, schooner sails out of the harbor, the iconic hike up Mt. Battie, and the boardwalk for evening strolls.

Two kitchens means two coffee makers running at 7 AM with no queue. Two houses means kids' bedtimes don't compete with the grownups' late dinner. One brook means everyone agrees on at least one place to take a barefoot walk.

The longest day of the year. 🌅

In Maine, that means light until almost 9 PM, fireflies starting around 8:30, and the kind of golden hour that makes you understand why people move here in the first place.

Some of our favorite ways to spend a Maine solstice:

🛶 Paddle out and let the sun set on the water

🦞 Eat dinner outside, slowly, with sweet corn and butter

🔥 A bonfire with people you love and stars you can actually see

🌊 Watch the sky do its thing over the bay (it goes on forever in June)

🧺 Stay up later than you planned, because the light gives you permission

Where would you spread the blanket? 🧺

Today is International Picnic Day, and there are not many places better suited for one than Maine in June. So we put together five picnic spots from across our properties. Five very different vibes, one perfect day. Vote for your favorite in the comments.

1) Belfast on the Bay (Belfast). A wooden staircase descending to a quiet sandy beach. Picnic spread on the sand, sailboats drifting offshore, the kind of afternoon that goes long.

2) Grandview (Lincolnville). A sweeping estate lawn under mature trees with an old picnic table waiting for blueberries and lemonade. The classic.

3) Camden Casa (Camden). A rocky shoreline with a designed coastal garden. Picnic with granite slabs as your table and the bay as your view.

4) Candy's Cove (Lincolnville). A manicured lawn with Adirondack chairs lined up facing the bay. Spread the blanket between the chairs and call it lunch.

5) Eagle Watch (Northport). A private pebble beach with panoramic views of Penobscot Bay. Picnic where the eagles do too, because yes, they really do fly overhead here.

The kind of week that turns you into a sauna person. 🌲💧

This is Loon Call, a beautifully renovated lakeside cottage on Seven Tree Pond in Union, Maine. Newly updated for the 2026 season with a brand new queen bed and a fresh sectional couch in the living room, this is the rare lake property that pulls double duty as a wellness retreat.

Inside, you have one-level living with three queen bedrooms (each with its own mini split AC), two full bathrooms with stall showers, a sunny kitchen, and a screened porch made for slow mornings and late-evening loon calls. The new sectional in the living room is the kind that makes you cancel your dinner plans and start a movie marathon.

But the real magic is outside: a private sauna right on the property, with Seven Tree Pond just steps away. Heat up, plunge in, repeat. It is the Maine version of a Scandinavian spa weekend, and it costs nothing extra.

Two kayaks come with the property for paddling out at sunrise. If you want to do more on the water, our affiliate Maine Watercraft Rentals will deliver a boat right to your private dock for the week, with water skis, a tube, kneeboard, and wakeboard included. It is the easiest way to turn a relaxing lake week into a full-on lake summer, with none of the trailering or launching hassle.

Beyond the property, you are 4 miles from Union Village. Beth's Farm Market is a must for fresh produce, oysters, live lobster, and the best corn on the cob anyone on our team has ever tasted. Sterling Public House and Alsace are nearby for dinner out, and you are a short drive from both Rockland and Camden when you want a bigger village day.

Cast a line off the dock with a fishing license, or arrange a guided fishing trip on Seven Tree Pond. End the day with s'mores around the fire pit and the loons calling across the water.

Just enough house. Just enough beach. All the salt air. 🌊

This is Salty Seas, new to our 2026 inventory in Port Clyde, perched directly on Penobscot Bay in the village of St. George. It is the kind of property that makes the case for going smaller. Just two bedrooms, just four guests, but views from nearly every room and the kind of quiet you only find at the end of a dead-end street.

Inside, the home is laid out for one-floor living.
