"The Great Ride: Landmarks Along the Trail" is a sequel to WQED’s "The Great Ride," which premiered in March 2018. In the new program, you'll get an up-close look at key landmarks on the trail, including: Point State Park’s majestic fountain; Kennywood Park, where its roller coasters nearly touch the trail; nature reserve Dead Man’s Hollow; historically-significant Dravo Cemetery; Darr Mine Disaster memorial site; Eastern Continental Divide watershed, breathtaking Salisbury Viaduct, Big Savage Tunnel; the Boy & Mule Statue that greets bikers in Cumberland, & many more treasures along the way.

These cyclists are enjoying a beautiful day of riding but they have disappeared inside Rockwood Mill Shoppes for pizza, chicken pot pies, ice cream and all the other “fat-free” goodies they can find. You really need to check this out.

Even if you’re not a long distance biker, you can bike as several do by making the Hostel your base and ride one direction and return and next day go the other direction and return. Others prefer going a longer distance and stay there overnight and then return to the hostel and then do the same the opposite way. Just get out there and enjoy the GAP.
